The next day Katie got discharged from the hospital,her dad came to settle all the bills at the counter. She waits for him at the front door as she sat the bench while listening to the music.
She scrolled down her phone and noticed many notifications on the badge of the Messages. She clicked on it and mostly came from CC.
The girl has been messaging her since the first day she got admitted. Katie suspected Nando was the one telling the Ace.
Katie had been avoiding talking to CC because she doesn't want the girl to know what happened to her or asking about her during her time in the hospital.
Carlos came while reading up the bills with worried look on his face. Katie saw him and felt bad "is everything okay dad?" She asked.
The man quickly fold the bill and put in his pocket "yeah yeah. Good. Let's go, shall we?" He said as he carry the small luggage.
In the car, the man seems quite more like thinking about something. The daughter felt worry for the father "dad...is my medical bill expensive?" She asked.
"What?? N-Not really...typical corporate game. They love to charges a lot. You'll know when you grown up" he said as he ruffles his hand on her head.
"Am I not a grown up?" She said as she pouts.
Carlos laughed and said "you still my baby princess" he said then focus his attention on the road.

CC keeps scrolling on her phone as she laid her head on the desk "why isn't she replying..." she groans slowly under her breath as she keeps the phone away in her sweater.
Ava slowly scoots herself closer to the blonde and pulled one strain of the hair. CC jolted herself shock as she cries out of the pain "Ow! What was that for?" She said as she rubbed the itchy pain on her head.
"You seem lost in thoughts, is it still about your cousin? How was she?" Ava asked as she acted concerned.
CC sighed slowly "no clue. She keeps ignoring me. Nando, her brother won't even update me anything." The Ace said.
Ava rolled her eyes as the Ace not looking "well..do you want to go to the new ice cream shop after school?Please say yes,I didn't go there yet because I wanna go with you" she said.
CC thought for a second then nodded "okay okay...just make sure that they are really good like you said. If not, I won't go there again" she said.

As the father daughter arrived home, Carlos helped Katie carry her stuff to her room. Allison welcomed them as she hugged her daughter "welcome home sweetie" she said as she pulled tighter.
"Mum you're crushing me" Katie jokes weakly.
The mother laughed as she let her go "do you want anything? Hot cocoa? Or are you hungry? Want me to order you something from your fav fast food place?" She asked.
Katie shook her head and smile "it's okay...I just wanna go up to my room. Maybe rest more" she said.
Allison nodded in understanding. Carlos then just got down from upstairs "we'll call you for dinner later. Rest okay?" He said as he kissed her daughter on the head.
Katie smiles and go upstairs.
Carlos glance over making sure no one else there except him and his wife. As he thought the coast is clear, he sat down on the couch and sighed slowly
"What we're gonna do? I don't understand why my credit card got declined earlier. It's the emergency card that company provides to me for family emergency. I just paid the bills with our debit card savings..." he said.
At that moment, Katie overheard what he said. She stopped and listened to them as she hid herself at the stairs.
Allison's eyes widened "what??! You could've call me first before making that decision" she said as she gotten angry while standing in front of him.
Carlos look at her "yeah and then what will the decision would be?" He asked.
Allison kept quiet as her husband were doing the exact same thing if this issue were discussed with her beforehand.
"I'm sorry..." she said.
Carlos grabbed her by the arm and pulled her to sit next to her "it's fine...now I just need to work hard more." He said as he wrapped his arm around the wife.
Suddenly his phone rang, he let go of his wife and answered the phone "hello?" He said.
"Hi Mr.Torres. Sorry for disturbing you. I'm Teresa from HR dept." She introduced herself.
"Y-Yes?" He said as he heard the HR dept.
"Sadly to inform you that our company, Icarus Technologies will no longer be needing your services in the future-"
His face changed sour "hey wait"
"-your contributions for the company very much appreciated. Your employment with us ended immediately 24/7. Thank you" the call ended.
Left the man hanging as he's in disbelief. The wife look at him "hey...what's wrong? Who was that??" She asked.
"I...I got fired...they fired me..." he said as he slumped his back against the couch "what we're gonna do? It will took me months for new company to hire middle aged man like me. And I'm not even there yet!" He said angrily.
The daughter who's been listening to them,her eyes widened in shock "Layla..." she hissed the named angrily under her breath.
"Calm down...there must be ways to sort this through" Allison said as she comforted her.
Carlos quickly gets up and took his keys hanged on the walls. Allison chased after him "Where are you going" She asked.
"Icarus! I want to demand a compensation for this!" He said as he gets in the car.
Allison stopped him "you're not in a right state of mind! We will go to them when you're calm!" She said as she stood in front of the vehicle.
