"Millie, baby, I'm off to work. Call me if you need anything, Okay?" Max whispered into my ear, leaning on the edge of the bed.
I nodded my head slightly, still having my eyes shut. feeling Max's lips plant a kiss on my cheek gently, a smile emerged across my face. I sat up for a moment and rubbed my eyes, Max watched me to see what I was doing before I puckered my lips wanting a proper kiss. Max gave me another kiss before heading towards the door. I laid back down and watched him and he paced around the room to get his things. After a few minutes, Max walked out the bedroom door, shutting it on his way out. Moments Later I started to doze back off after hearing the front door slam shut.
After a few more hours of sleep, I was awoken by a loud bang coming from downstairs. I shot out of bed and crept over to the bedroom door to peek out. Trying not to draw attention to myself, but still wanting to see what was going on, I leaned over the banister to find two men sorting through our kitchen cabinets.
My eyes widened as a wave of fear rushed over me. Rushing back to my room, slowly closing my door so it wouldn't make a loud noise. I grabbed my phone off the bed to try and call Max, no answer.
Fucks sakes, Max.
I ran into the bathroom that was attached to my room and began calling the police. Trying to silence the sound I was about to make I shut the door and hid in the corner of the bathroom. Starting to shake I began dialing the number.
"Hello, Berkshire police dept. How can I help you?" A lady began in a calming tone of voice from the other side of the line.
"Hi, there are two men that have broken into my house. I am not sure how they got in but they are tearing up my house."
"Okay hun, just stay calm. What is your address?" She asked as she began to dispatch the police, Hearing little typing sounds come from her end
I quickly gave her my address and tried to calm myself down.
"Okay, ma'am they are on their way now. give them just a few minutes," The operator softly spoke.
I thanked her and hung up the phone. I decided to try and call Max again. it began to ring but still no answer. I decided to try and call Harvey since they were together. The phone began to ring once again but this time someone picked up.
"Hello?" A familiar voice began to speak.
Joy came over me when I finally reached someone. I had almost thought I was never going to get through to anyone for Max to come home.
"Harvey! Where is Max?"
"He is in the studio. why? What's wrong?" He asked concerned.
"Two guys broke into the house. Police are on their way now."
"Oh my god, Millie! We are on our way," Harvey began to panic. he hung up the phone before I could get another word out of my mouth.
I sat on the floor of the bathroom for what felt like hours before I heard sirens coming from down the road. I stood up and ran to the window in my bedroom to see four police cars flying into my driveway. I watched as six officers ran into the house. Commotion filled the house before I heard a knock at my door, followed by a deep voice, "Ma'am, it's safe for you to come out."
I stood up from my window seal and began slowly making my way over to the door, wondering if it was an actual police officer or one of the criminals. I began turning the handle as my hands were still shaking. When I pulled the door open, I man had been standing there with a police uniform on. I emerged from my room slowly, still being slightly cautious. I followed the officer downstairs and out to the front yard. As I stepped into the yard I heard a car pulling into the driveway behind the police cars.
"Millie!" Max yelled as he got out of the car. He swiftly ran up to me, pulling me in for a hug. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm okay."
We watched as the officers escorted the criminals out of the house and into the police cops in the driveway.
"You are safe to go back inside. We will be in contact with you soon," The officer let us know after the house was checked and it was safe.
We strolled back into the house to see the torn-apart kitchen and living room.
"Well, I guess we got to clean the house now," Max sighed, looking around the kitchen.
"I need a nap after all of this..."
"Didn't you just wake up?" Harvey asked.
"Don't you judge me!"
Harvey threw up his hands and began to start picking items up off the ground.
"Thanks for rushing home. But maybe next time, answer your phone the first time I call you."
Max chuckled with his head down before agreeing with me, "Yeah sorry about that. I was in the studio and didn't realize my phone was on silent."
"I guess it's fine. maybe it is a good thing that I keep that idiot's number in my phone."
"Rude!" Harvey yelled from the floor of the kitchen.
"I wonder what those criminals were looking for anyway. They seemed to only stay in this area." Max uttered in a confused tone.
"Yeah, you're right. That is weird. I guess we will never know."
