EXT. - COURTYARD OF MILITARY PRISON - DAY
A small number of humans are corralled into the courtyard by Baubijn rebels.
Some of the Baubijn guards were previously inmates of the prison. Among the rebels are Adek, Id'k and Ater (a former prisoner).
Some of the humans were previously inmates of the prison, while others were previously the guards. They are all now prisoners of the Baubijn. Among the human prisoners is Lieutenant Hernandez.
ADEK
(To hostages)
You are now are hostages. If your superiors meet our demands, you shall live and be set free. Otherwise the sand of this courtyard will be stained with your blood. Atel, here, is now your new warden.
HUMAN PRISONER NUMBER SIX
What are your demands? Let us know.
ID'K
Your superiors meet our demands, or else you'll lose your head.
HUMAN PRISONER NUMBER SIX
But, what are your demands? If my life depends on it, I'd like to know.
ADEK
(to Ater)
Cut this prisoners throat! One less hostage may counterpoise the lives of those comrades which we have lost in breaking into this prison.
HUMAN PRISONER NUMBER SIX
I have no more questions. Spare my life.
HERNANDEZ
Give him a chance. He now understands there is a new sheriff in town.
ATEL
(to Hernandez)
I lost my eye in our battle of freedom. It's still bleeding. And therefore to revenge my eye, shall you die? And a fellow human for every Baubijn comrade lost, if I might have my say in it.
ADEK
Don't be so rash. One less hostage is acceptable. The others live for now.
ATEL
(to Hernandez)
Come, Hernandez. I must take you to your death.
HERNANDEZ
Gelidus per dura cucurrit ossa tremor.
HUMAN PRISONER NUMBER SIX
(To Hernandez)
This is not the time for fighting words. Be courteous to him.
HERNANDEZ
I am an officer. I will not beg.
AKED
Haul her away, and let her talk no more.
HERNANDEZ
Bezonians! Bandittos! Bastards!
Ater and other rebel Baubijns exit courtyard with Hernandez.
AKED
(pointing out one human hostage, a former guard)
And as for these hostages, it is our pleasure to release one of you, to carry our message. So you, come with us now.
Exeunt Aked, all rebel Baubijns, and the one human.
Ater and other rebel Baubijns re-enter the courtyard with Hernandez's decapitated body.
ATER
Her head is our message to your leaders.
Her lifeless body can lie there, or you can bury it yourselves.
Ater and the Baubijn rebels exit the courtyard.
HUMAN PRISONER NUMBER SIX
Bloody barbarians!
