KAPTULO 12

[Debut]

Ngayon ko lang tuluyang napagmasdan ang events place ng hotel. The elevator we took was transparent, allowing us to gaze at the outdoor amenities of the establishment. It showcased exquisitely landscaped gardens and an elegant mansion that, judging by its proximity, seemed available for potential rental. The venue, adorned with lush gardens, cascading manmade waterfalls, and serene koi ponds, has all the elements necessary for various celebrations.

"Uhm, Kidlat." Tawag ko sa kanya.

Tumingin siya agad sa akin.

"I have another thing for you."

He became attentive. Mabilis na kinuha ko ang pulang cufflinks mula sa bulsa ng aking blazer. Unlike the necktie that I gave him, I'm not insecure about the cufflinks at all. Galing kasi 'yon kay Autumn kaya alam kong mamahalin din at maikukumpara sa madalas ring sinusuot ni Kidlat. I'm just not sure if the necktie that I gave him can be at par with those that are bought from high-cost shops.

"Hmm. This looks expensive." Tumingin siya sa akin pagkatapos pagmasdan ang cufflinks nang matagal. "Did you buy this?"

I... didn't want to tell him it was actually from Autumn. Nahiya ako bigla.

"You can wear it or not. Ikaw bahala."

Nagtagal ang tingin niya sa akin pero kalaunan ay sinimulan din niyang palitan ang suot niyang silver cufflinks. Tumahimik na ako sa tabi at pinagmasdan nalang siya habang ginagawa iyon. His suit and overall outfit now fits the theme, with his red necktie and visible red cufflinks.

"I also made you a pocket square."

He was agape again. I just hid my smirk and just put it in the pockets of his black blazer.

We were greeted by a handful of the hotel staff at the entrance when we arrived. I'm pretty sure there's a red carpet happening on the ground floor. I'm certain it's full of media, interviewers, and high-profile guests so obviously, Kidlat won't be allowed to walk in it. Kaya diretso na kami ngayon.

"Good evening, Mr. Tarraniaga and... Mr. Sevilla,"

Kidlat didn't have an invitation card that's why I was astonished the staff recognized him. The staff almost blurted out my surname with a question mark though. She had to check for it in the list to make sure.

"Enjoy the night!"

Thunder Tarraniaga's entrance made a noise, not only because there were a bunch of security guards walking alongside him, but also because I know he's sought after, in events like this. Kahit pa bata pa siya at sa first year palang ng highschool, tinitingala na at ine-expect ng lahat na susunod siya sa yapak ng mga magulang. He's going to be one of the next generation of businessmen.

Sunod-sunuran lang ako sa kanya. Kung saan siya magpunta, roon din ako. And to be honest, I don't mind it at all. I stayed with him while people, mostly geriatric ones, greeted and talked to him in wonder. Kidlat would introduce me to them as well, cementing the fact that he doesn't want me to leave his side either.

While he engaged in casual conversations, I took the opportunity to survey the whole venue.

The entire space was encased in a glass-covered dome, capturing my admiration as I gazed upward at its transparent roofs, slightly wondering how they built it inside the building. The venue also featured a grand staircase, a spacious ballroom, a huge bar, and resplendent chandeliers that sparkled overhead. The crystal chandeliers and elegant backdrops contributed to the enchanting atmosphere, perfectly suited for the debut of the socialite Rachel Tarraniaga. There were also live bands and jazz musicians playing, though I anticipated it would shift to a DJ later in the evening when the party actually starts.
