Zephyr's POV
The room hung heavy with a tense silence after the revelation about Anastasia's age. Each member of the powerful supernatural group processed the information in their own way. Dashiell seemed unfazed, his stoic expression unchanging. Lysander, the dragon, looked conflicted, caught between his longing for a mate and the moral implications of the situation. Thaddeus, the warlock, wore a thoughtful expression, likely contemplating the magical implications of a human mate. Oberon, ever observant, continued to study Zephyr, sensing there was still more to the story.
Amias was the first to break the silence. "What the fuck?! A 7-year-old? Are you kidding me?" His frustration and disappointment were palpable. Zephyr raised a hand to quell any potential outbursts, his expression stern. "I understand your concerns, but she is not just any human. She's special. There's a reason she is our mate."
Dashiell, ever pragmatic, spoke up. "Zephyr, you need to tell us everything. No more half-truths or omissions. If we're going to navigate this, we need all the information."
Zephyr sighed. "Fine, but let's sit. This is going to take a while." They gathered around a table, their expressions a mix of curiosity and apprehension. Zephyr began to recount the events that led to him discovering Anastasia, the peculiar circumstances surrounding her, and the unique bond his demon had formed with her.
As he spoke, the weight of the situation became more apparent. Their mate was not just a human; she was a child with no magical abilities. The challenges they would face were unprecedented. The group listened attentively, realizing that the dynamics of their relationships and responsibilities were about to change in ways they couldn't have anticipated.
Once Zephyr finished, he looked at each of them. "We need to be prepared. Tomorrow, when she arrives, we'll have to adapt and ensure her safety. She's innocent in all of this, and we owe it to her to make the best of the situation."
The room remained silent for a moment beforeOberon, the fae with a keen sense of perception, said, "There's stillsomething more, Zephyr. I can sense it."
