Rachel Parker (SpiderGirl) POV
I rapidly looked around for Cedar, my head went down when I didn't see him."We'll find him, don't worry." Kimberly said, a hand on my shoulder. "So, we have decided that there are two devices in this building." SilverMist said, jumping up and floating in a sitting position.
"But it doesn't make sense. If everyone is already a mutant....why release a chemical to turn us into mutants..?" Jean asked suddenly.
"Because it doesn't!" Someone laughed. I looked up and gulped, a Goblin Glider! "I'll deal with this." Kimberly snarled, calling her own glider. She hopped on her's and chased the Green Goblin.
Without warning, she stopped and fell off her glider. I swung over to her. "What the heck?" I asked. She looked up at me, "it's my brother." I stopped mid shoot and looked at her. "But you killed him. I saw it happen." I said.
"I...I guess not." She mumbled, looking into the sky like a UFO had appeared and sucked up some cows before flying away. The shy was lit by a downfall of pumpkin bombs! "I'll deal with him! Find the devices!" I yelled.
"Ugh. Remind me not to celebrate Halloween with pumpkins ever again." I groaned, shooting a web at the Goblin Glider. I pulled myself up to The Green Goblin and gasped at what I saw.
Luke was now neon green, a lighter green than his father, Harry. He was wearing a purple suit with a hood over his face. I punched him in the jaw and he jammed his glider into me.
"And to think I used to like you." I mumbled as I fell. I shot a web at the trees and slingshotted myself over the crowd and into the gilder. Luke flipped over the side and smirked. He whistled and landed back on it.
"Where'd you learn that? Running into guys on the street?" He taunted me. "I think you said the word idiots wrong." I snapped. He grinned at me. "Glad you still have your sense of humor." "Yeah and you lost your's." I said, feeling sad for him for once.
But I brushed that aside and focused on taking him down. I swung away from him and to the trees, knowing he couldn't follow as easily on the glider.
I heard the glider scrape by barely on a tree and laughed: "What? Can't turn as sharp Lukey?" I did a figure eight and heard him snarl. I kept going back and forth and back and forth between the trees, trying to throw him off. He hit a tree and yelled.
I heard another metallic thunk against a tree and looked ahead, there was a small clearing! I got an idea and started to shoot webs into the trees, when I was done, I had a gigantic spiderweb
"Oh come here, Gobbily Goo." I laughed crazily. I heard the engines and hung in front of my spider web, he grew enraged as I shot a web at his face. At the last possible second, I pulled myself up into the tree.
He got stuck in the gigantic spiderweb and I jumped off the tree onto the ground. Shooting dozens of webs, I covered him and his glider until only his head stuck out. He was hung like a vertical hammock between the two trees.
I slowly walked over and looked him in the eyes. "I used to love you, you know. I used to think about you all the time, but now I'm done. I don't even know what to say anymore." I admitted, turning to walk away.
"Rachel, wait." He said. Half of me told me not to turn around keep walking, the other half told me to stay. He had freed a hand from my web. "What?" I asked, tears coming surprisingly to my eyes.
I turned fully around and looked at him. "Come close." I walked closer to him, standing in the front."They're in the top of the two towers. And you don't think I'd want to do everything to stop this disease? I'm dying, faster than my father. He tried out a new serum. And..." There was a moment of silence, he tried to get out of the spiderweb, lunging at me. He was holding something. My Spider sense went off and I jumped back. The Goblin screamed, an arrow was sticking out of his back. It was a special type of arrow with multiple sharp points.
I turned and saw Hawkeye, behind Green Goblin, his hand on his bow. "You idiot!" I screamed in rage. I shot a web at him and he took off running. Blood now seeped from the webs."I'm already dying away..." He coughed out. "And It's in too deep."
I pulled up my mask and walked forward, pulled his hood back and smiled at his now slicked back, spiky green hair and pointed ears. I put my hands around his neck and kissed him on the lips.
"Rach...did you....What in the hell!?" I jumped away from Luke in shock. I turned and saw Kimberly look at me. Luke had a bright smile on his face. "I...uh..." I started to say. "Goodbye SpiderGirl, The tiger guy deserves someone like you. And Kimberly, I'm so sorry. I loved you as my sister. I...I should've saved you...I'm sorry. Take down Harry for me." His eyes closed and he smiled, taking his last breath. I saw a necklace in his hand. It was the one he always wore, the little smiling green devil with a purple hood. It was almost like a caricature. He had lunged at me only to break the webs so he could give it to me.
Kimberly said nothing, but started to bawl. I couldn't say anything, but walked over to her and held her as she cried. "We've got to help the others. The two devices are in the top of the towers."
She slowly followed me, still crying. We walked back to the clearing and I slipped the leather necklace over my head and tucked it into my suit.
SilverMist? Yeah, where are you? Clearing. Green Goblin is dead, both of the devices are in the top of the two towers.
"Come on." I called to Kimberly. She called her board quietly and I swung up to the towers. I crashed through the side window of the left tower and landed in the top. It was a huge contraption filled with green liquid.
There was a timer on it, we had a minute left! "How do we deactivate this thing!?" I asked Kimberly. She looked at me and shrugged, "Oh just because it's my family's I should know?" She lashed out at me. "Hey, I didn't mean to get him killed." I snapped back. She said nothing more but glared at me.
We looked all over the surface of the device, and I finally saw a weird outline of something. We had about 30 seconds left. It was a half circle with a weird stem.
"What could that be?" I asked, looking at Kimberly, she shrugged, her eyes on the timer. "The necklace!" She yelled, her eyes wide. I got the necklace out of my suit and shoved it into place. The timer stopped with a few seconds to spare.
"Let's go! The next one!"
