Chapter Seven: What did i miss?

I woke up in a strange place, the walls were a pale white and there was one chair and a table. I looked around trying to figure out were I was, the hospital. There was a knock on the door, "Come in" I said looking at the door to see who it was. "So you're finally awake huh." Dally said stepping into the room. What did he mean finally awake? "How long have I been asleep?" I asked Dally. Dal took a seat next to me and grabbed my hand"Jesse you have been asleep for three weeks. See that bump on your head?" He  said pointing to a bandage around my head "When Bob pushed you down you hit your head on the concrete and got a bad concussion and cracked you head open. You have stitches keeping you together. The doctors said you almost didn't make it." This can be happening.  What about geting happen to the plan of making Ponyboy to fall in love with Angela! "Where is everyone?". Dal pulled out a cig and put it in his mouth"Ponyboy has been here every day by your side, I think the kid has a thing for you" Dally said with a smirk on his face. I could feel my cheeks starting to warm. There was a knock on the door.  Dally got up and opened it low and behold it was Ponyboy. Pony's eyes lit up when he was I was wake"Hey Jesse I see your up." Ponyboy said walking over and gave me a tight hug. "Hey Pon, how's Angela?" I said siting up. Ponyboy hesitated "Hey Dal can I talk to Jesse in privet?" Dally nodded and walked out the room and shut the door. "She told me every thing how she had you only go out with me just to get me to go out with her, and that you really don't like me you like Two-bit" Ponyboy said looking down at the ground. I was a shamed of what I did. I didn't know it would end up hurting him.  "Ponyboy I didn-" I was cut off when he got up and walked out the door. Befor he shut the door he said "That's what they all say."
       I bursted out crying and Dally came running in "What wrong Jesse?" I wiped the tears off my face "Ponyboy is mad at me for something Angela made me do.." Dal walked over and hugged me "I told you them Shepherds were no good. But everything is going to be okay. But for Pony he'll get over in time."
     The nurse walked in "You can go home now sweetie, just let me take your IVs out. You'll have to come back and get the stitches removed in a few weeks." She pulled my IVs out and handed me my clothes and walked out of the room. When I got up on my feet I almost fell over but Dally stopped me "Hey be more careful kid.". I walked over to the bathroom I took one look in the mirror and almost cried.
  My hair was in one big knot. I threw on my black tee shirt with my jeans. I bit my lip as I took the bandage off. It had dry crusted blood on it and the sigh of the bald spot where the are stitches made me cringe. I brushed out the knots out of my hair and tried to avoid the stitches bald spot   after a few minutes I got all the knots out. I washed my face and sighed. I reached into my pocket and pulled out my switch blade and cut my hair short. I bite my lip as I look in the mirror trying to fix my hair so you can't see the massive bald spot. I sigh in defeat know that it was a fail. I cleaned all the hair off the counter. I throw on the jean jacket and headed back into the room.
         Dally said stared at me as I walked into the room "What did you do to your hair?" I looked down at my feet "I have a massive bald spot where the stitches are and I need to cover it." I sat down on the bed and put on my sneakers. Dal stood up "Lets get out of this place. Hospitals give me the heebie-jeebies." I nodded and got up. I was sick of this place! "Hey can we go to the Curtis's house? I want to talk to Ponyboy." I said walking by Dally's side. "Where else do you think we would go?"Dally said sarcastically I rolled my eyes.
As we got down to the parking lot Dal looked at me "Since you walking around ain't a good idea Buck lent me his car till he gets back." I nodded as we approach a busted old red convertible. We speed out of the hospital parking lot and heading towards the Curtis' house. "We're going to make a quick stop at DX to get some gas." I nodded and turned I the radio. The Rolling Stones 'Satisfaction' and I hum to myself and drum to the beat. Dal looks over at me and chuckles "I'm not going to get use to your hair." I smiled and rolled my eyes.
   We pulled into DX and Steve was standing at the pump. Steve chuckled and walked up to Dals side and leaned into the window "Where did you get the wheels Dal? You steal it?" Dal glared at him "Very funny Steve. Just fill it." Steve laughed to himself. Steve looks back into the car and his jaw drops "It can't be, Jesse is that you? You look so different." I chuckled and looked at Steve "I had to cover the stitches so bye bye long hair." I pushed my hair aside and showed the bald spot in the back of my head. "Wowza I gotta show Soda this! Hey Sodapop you gotta see this!" Steve turns and yells into the little shack. Soda walks out and over to the car "What is it Steve? I'm trying to get the books done so we can get out early." He looks at Dal and I and his jaw drops just like Steve's did. "You cut your hair? Why?" To save my breath showed him the stitches and the bald spot. The gas pump stops, "How much do I owe Steve?" Dal says pulling change out of his pocket. Steve looks at the pump "$0.93" Dal hands him a dollar "See y'all back at the house" and with that we pull out of the gas station and head towards the house.
    When we finally reached the Curtis's house I saw Ponyboy standing on the porch sucking faces with Angela.
