The sound of sirens filed the air. They would be rescued soon, or at least they all hoped they would."How long do you think till they find us?"George asked as he and his children sat on the bench, of all them in the sewers they took turns sitting on it, since the others were all old and broken."I'm not sure,"Scott stated, as he spoke fire men started entering the room, followed by police officers and paramedics. A police man, well more of police woman, then walked up to Scott."Are you Scott Sylvester?"She asked him. The officer wore the usual police uniform and had her hair pulled back beneath her officer hat."Yes that's me,"Scott stated as he and the lady shook hands."I'm Officer Linda,"The lady stated as she pulled out her notepad,"How long have you been down here?" She asked as she pulled the cap off her pen with her teeth, Scott always hated when people did things like that, talk about unsanitary."About 24 hours or so, not really sure,"Scott stated, as he fiddled with his fingers."Okay so have you had anything to eat or drink?"Linda asked. Jotting down the answer from the question before."Yes, very little and unsanitary though,"Scott replied."What did you have?"She asked again trying to get specifics."Sewage,"He stated Linda then shuddered at his response."Has anyone sustained any injuries?"She asked still scrunching her face up at the thought of them having to live on sewage."Yes, My friend Rusty received a severe blow to the head,"Scott stated, he then let out a small sigh, he wished she would just let them out of the sewers."Alright, has he been unconscious?"The lady asked once more. Scott couldn't take anymore questions! He just wanted out of the damn sewers!"Yes he was for a few moments,"Scott said as he sucked in his cheeks, when will this end!"Alright, I'll have a paramedic look at him, was there any casualties?"She asked, promising herself that this would be the last question."Yes my friend's wife, the one with the injury, I don't know how she died,"He lied, he wanted to tell them the truth but with his magic and all he thought it was certainly not worth it and risk exposing magic to the common everyday folk, no no that would not be good."Alright, you're free to go, we'd recommend you go to the hospital with your friend, you need to get rehydrated since it's been over 24 hours, your children can get a ride with the police, there's just not enough room in the ambulance, do you understand?"The officer asked, not waiting for a response she then spoke the information into the phone. Scott then made his way to where a paramedic was talking to Rusty about his injuries. Scott found it hysterical that they were going through everything in the sewers, as if there was not a perfectly good place to talk upstairs."Excuse me sir,"The paramedic who was a man standing at about 5'1 feet tall, he was very short compared to Scott."Yes?"Scott asked."May I speak with you for a moment?"The paramedic asked,"Alone." The male paramedic then led Scott into one of the narrow entry ways away from the other."What is it?"Scott asked wondering what was so urgent that couldn't wait for them to get out of the darn sewers."Your um friend, he the way he worded how he got his injury, it's strange, and we're worried that he might have some serious mental condition as well,"The paramedic stated as he fumbled with his stethoscope."What exactly did he say?"Scott asked, running all the possible outcomes through his head."He said a giant deformed bloody sheep rammed a sword into his skull causing him to nearly drown,"The paramedic stated."Oh that,"Scott said, trying to figure what he should say, if he said it actually happened he too could be sent to an asylum or other institution, where as if he doesn't say anything Rusty would still be sent to an asylum or other institution, he then came up with the perfect way,"He didn't say ad I didn't see what had happened,"Scott once again lied."Okay, we need to take him to the hospital for some tests both on his physical and mental state, does he have any family?"The paramedic asked as another one came to where Rusty was sitting and helped him onto a stretcher, Rusty obviously, being the stubborn warlock he was, was putting up quite a protest, this however Scott missed all of as he was to busy trying to remember if Rusty had any family."I believe he has a sister, and two children,"Scott stated as he scratched his stubbly chin."Okay, do you have their numbers?"The paramedic asked as he and Scott started climbing a ladder out of the sewers."I have them in my phone,"Scott stated, as he pulled it out,"Okay his sister's cell is 456-826.""Alright we'll make sure to call them you can go ahead and wait to get in the ambulance,"The paramedic stated as he then went back to the sewers to help them clean up the area, and of course make sure no one is left behind."Dad!"He heard Lilac cry as she ran to his arms,"We're free!" Her brother Samuel followed her quickly. He always followed his big sister around, he was like her little servant."Yeah, listen here, the police are going to take you up to the hospital, I need to stay with Rusty, but you guys get to ride in a police car!"Scott stated being as exciting as possible, hoping it would make his kids feel happier."Yay!"Samuel exclaimed as he punched one of his small fists into the air he had always wanted to ride in a police car, alike every other young boy."I'll keep an eye on him,"Lilac stated, reassuring her father."you better,"Scott stated as he chuckled and pulled his children into a loving embrace, they were all grateful to be out of the sewers.
