Chapter 4: A Nightmare Ended

After checking out the flowers a bit more, Jeremy led Elaenna to her room which too was massive. The room had a queen-sized canopy bed made out of oak wood with nightstands on both sides and a beautiful walk-in wardrobe that was full of clothes her aunt had brought from home. As she rustled through the clothes, she smiled and said"I definitely remember these...they're some of my favorite outfits...I wish I could remember where I got them...I'd like more". There was a mini couch by the window, a flat-screen TV sitting on the dresser in front of the bed, and a door to the left of it that led into the bathroom. Curious, Vic walked past the flat screen into the bathroom and her jaw dropped. The bathroom floor, the walls, and the tub were marble-tiled. The tub was one of those curved old-style tubs with legs and the shower was walk-in with sliding glass doors and the toilet had a built-in bidet which was a system that cleans you with water instead of using toilet paper.

Vic walked back out and said"Well how do you like it Elaenna? Her eyes sparkled as she said"I love it". Vic smiled and said, "That's good but there is something I do need to tell you.." Elaenna nodded and said"What is it?" and Vic sighed and said"I can only stay for a couple of days... afterward I have to go back to the hospital and Jeremy here will become your rehab nurse who will live here and assist you".Elaenna blushed and said"n-not him please! Vic pushed Jeremy out of the room and closed the door before saying"Now why don't you want him". She said, "he seems nice and all but he's too hot...what if I fall for him! or do something stupid".

Vic chuckled and said"he's a trained professional, he's seen it all and didn't budge then and won't now...but if he does make an indecent move, there's a buzzer beside your bed and your door locks automatically when the button in your nightstand drawer is pressed".Elaenna said"I trust him okay" Vic nodded and said, "if you're really that nervous then remember your family is pretty much rich so...you could buy him and make him a butler if you wanted but while I'm here get to know him and ask him anything and remember, he's required to do anything you ask".

Elaenna grinned and said"Well okay" and Vic frowned and said"Nothing perverted". She handed Elaenna her phone and said"Here, this is yours...I added my number into it and since you're in rehab you're allowed to have it back...you should study it, maybe it'll help you remember some things about yourself". She giggled and said, "Well at least I do remember my pass code".

Over the next two days, Elaenna began to adjust and smile a bit and things seemed well until the night after Vic left. Elaenna woke up sweating bullets and screaming because of her dream. She had seen a white male with brunette hair pointing a gun at her and even worse, she could feel the sensation of the metal piercing her flesh and it hurt and mortified her. She began hyperventilating and yelling"he's gonna find me! he's gonna hurt me!" on repeat until Jeremy rushed in and startled her, causing her to fall off the bed and curl put her hands over her face.

Jeremy turned on the lamp and helped her onto the bed and as soon as he did, she immediately wrapped herself around him and began to sob. He held her and she cried and her body shook until finally she calmed down. Once she regained her composure he looked her in the eyes and said"What did you see?" she said, "T-this guy in a grey hoodie....h-he shot me three times and I could feel it! It hurt so bad....h-he had a black eye and blood lust on his face". Jeremy nodded and said" What color was his hair? and she said"B-brunette". He said"Okay, you wait here and I'll call the police detective". Elaenna said"OK...please hurry back" and he smiled and said, "I won't take long".

Jeremy went into the living and dialed the number he had been given and it rang for a few minutes before a voice groggily answered with "hello".Jeremy said"Is this Detective Burke?" and the man said"Yes this is him who's calling?" Jeremy said, "This is Elaenna Robinson's caretaker, I was told to contact you if she ever Identified her attacker and it seems she woke up screaming after having a flashback of the moment she was assaulted". Burke said "And?" and Jeremy said," She described the man as a white, brunette with a black eye and he was wearing a grey hoodie". Burke said, "That sounds like the guy I had detained that night for carrying a gun on campus...apparently several others testified she had assaulted him after he had made some unwanted advances towards her".

Burke continued and said, "He had a black eye brown hair, and a grey hood and the gun I found and confiscated had shown signs of being fired and the bullet casings pulled out of her matched what was in the clip".Jeremy said"Why did he walk free?" Burke said," The asshole has friends in high place...the judge wanted the victim's statement as irrefutable evidence that it was him, and thanks to you, I have the last piece I need to levy charges". Jeremy said"What about Elaenna?" and he said, "Since he nearly killed her, the judge will not allow him to press assault charges against her and die to her fear and her condition she will not be forced to testify in the same room as her attacker". Jeremy said"Thank you, sir," Burke said, "No, thank you and goodnight". Jeremy hung up the phone and headed back to Eleanna's room, determined to help this young lady through this mess.
