Chapter 12: Confliction

Over the next 2 weeks, Elaenna carried Jeremy's weight while he relaxed and fully recovered from his illness. She did the chores, attended her own therapy sessions, and did the shopping as well which greatly boosted her self-esteem and she did it all while still being there for Jeremy and herself. She held him when he had nightmares, told him every day how proud she was of him, listened to him when he needed an ear, and helped him find himself again. After he recovered, it was back to normal with him caring for her and tending to her therapy sessions...most of the time.

Over the next few weeks, he and Elaenna worked together splitting chores and responsibilities but despite this Jeremy still tried to do it all himself. Fortunately for him, Elaenna would stop him and force him to relax, and sometimes she forced him to take several days off, claiming she wasn't feeling well enough for therapy. Because of this, Jeremy's nightmares diminished and he got used to working but also having fun and enjoying life which he really thanked Eleanna for when it was all said and done. A month and a half had now passed since Jeremy had spilled his guts to Elaenna and she had now graduated from her chair and was now waddling with leg braces and two canes but at least she was walking and that wasn't all that changed.

Over the course of the last month, he and Elaenna had been spending a lot of time together, she had cared for him, stuck beside him, uplifted him, and pushed him to do better. In doing so, she had touched Jeremy's heart multiple times and despite his best efforts, he now realized that he had feelings for her. He was new to love but he was sure that he wanted Elaenna to be with him forever and to help him continue to grow and give him the push he needed. He loved how caring she was, how fierce she could be, and how her smile and the feel of her warmth made him feel stronger, like he had a new purpose to be around...he loved how she made him feel like he could do anything.

Despite having these feelings, he knew that he had to hold them in, at least until she was completely rehabilitated. Even though she probably wouldn't mind, it would still be inappropriate and not to mention, a conflict of interest. He had to choose between his job or Elaenna and he wasn't ready for that so he resolved to rehabilitate her and then tell her how he felt unless he was in absolute danger of losing her. He loved his job but he knew he couldn't let go of this woman and the happiness she brings him without a fight or a few sacrifices such as his job.

Since Elaenna had hit a milestone and managed to walk from the gym to her room without the braces yesterday and today, Jeremy got permission and decided to let her see the outside world for the first time in almost three months. Elaenna was fast asleep right now from all the walking earlier which worked out perfectly for Jeremy, only one issue; he had no idea what was appropriate for an outing with a person with limited mobility. After carefully weighing his options, he decided where to take her and it was perfect.

Around 5 pm, he checked on Elaenna and found her reading a book on her couch. Upon seeing him, she smiled, gently closed the book, and said"What's up?". Jeremy said with a blush" I-I got permission to take you outside of the facility s-so I was wondering if you want t-to go somewhere w-with me". Elaenna smiled and said, "Sure, I'll get dressed right away but I don't suppose you could tell me where it is you're taking me ?"

He smiled and said, "It's a surprise but I promise you will like it". She giggled and said"Okay, I'll trust you. Jeremy quickly scurried out of the room and closed the door with a bright red face that even Elaenna noticed. By now, she had a bit of a clue about his feelings but not the full picture and because of them spending so much time together she now had gotten used to him, his touch, and his cuteness which made it easier for her to act oblivious. Even though she wanted to say"I like you, she couldn't yet because she was still unsure of the complexity of her feelings for him. She knew she liked him and thought he was cute but love and like are two different things and she needed time to find out which one describes her feelings.

After 15 minutes of deliberation, Elaenna settled upon wearing some dark blue jeans and a crop top with a black leather jacket over top of it. She left her hair down and wore regular shoes since her balance wasn't all that great and in the end, she looked as sexy as before she had gotten shot and lost her memories. Elaenna exited her room and walked carefully into the living room when Jeremy was once again waiting with a wheelchair. He said"You ready to go?" and she said, "Yes but what's with the chair?" He said, "It's a long walk and I want you to save your energy for where we are going so please, rely on your chauffeur m'lady". She giggled and said, "I've never had a chauffeur as hot as you sir, if you keep this up I might have to make you my personal driver".

Jeremy blushed hard as she sat down and he thanked god that her back was turned to him or he may have just tried to make a move. As he wheeled her up front,he knew that while tonight may be fun for her; for him it would be a delicate balancing act between the commitment to his job, and his feelings for Elaenna.
