"Sir, the auction-" Killian started off but was cut off by the sound of clicking heels. A young woman entered, a mask on her face. Her long glistening black hair flowed behind the back of her head and she brushed aside the bangs and extra hair falling to her face. When she came closer, only then did I notice the strangely bright green eyes, they were round and large and strangely familiar.
Killian's eyes widened and the hall falls silent, soon enough people start whispering to each other excitedly. Her appearance was a truly peculiar sight, her slender arms and broad shoulders were sure to turn a couple heads. The girl seemed rather beautiful. The aura around her was that of royalty.
"..."
"She's here... Right here... God dammit that woman-"
"Oh look at her, she's so dramatic with that plague doctor mask!"
"She'll win, she'll win for sure, she'll get the painting she always gets those paintings-"
Some people were certainly not pleased with her presence. It was a mixed crowd, most people, like me, found her a sight for sore eyes. I felt my lip muscles twitch again. I had the urge to laugh loudly at how stupid that mask looked on her, she was fully dressed in black and let's not forget that abnormally large hat on her head.
"Killian, who is this lady?-" I inquired, very much amused by her sense of dressing. "Sir... she calls herself Lady Annabeth..." "Lady?" I frowned, my eyebrows furrow. I further emphasise, "Lady?", he mumbled a small yes and I watch as she takes a seat in the corner of the front row. Far away from my seat in the middle row.
"What? She thinks she's some aristocrat! Is that it?" I scoffed, "She's arrogant then." Killian looked at me darkly, "She wins the bid at almost every art auction that takes place in Berlint..." he explained. That piqued my interest immensely. I was dying to know who was behind that mask. "She must be extremely wealthy then..." I mumbled and Killian nods in agreement.
From what I learnt from the whispers, no one knew the identity of this 'Lady Annabeth' and from what I could make out, The texture of her hair wasn't natural, a synthetic wig... I tought to myself as I stared blankly at the back of her head. As if she could hear my thoughts, the girl flinched and swiftly turns around, her round eyes widened as she stared directly into my eyes.
"It seems she has recognized me immediately..." I whispered, indeed she's someone I know.
"You say she wins every single auction?"
"Yes."
"She won't win this time, not with me here."

"8 million from the lovely lady in the back clothes!" The auctioneer exclaimed cheerfully. I could feel my jaw twitch in anger and frustration, either way, I'm the one who'd win this time. No one steals my spotlight. I raised my card.
"8 million and 50 grand!" I exclaimed with immense satisfaction. I won't lose. Not at all. I'm getting that painting and I'm going to fix this. The girl gently raised her hand and held her chin high.
"9 million from the lady in black clothes!"
"9.5 million from Mister Desmond!"
"10 million!" She exclaimed loudly. Her voice was soft and slightly quivery as she held her card above her head. No way.
That's not...? Before I could process what I was thinking she turned around, her eyes look down fiercely, she was glaring at me. Not that it mattered much anymore.
"For-" I start off but cut myself off. No, what am I thinking... that's not her.
But her voice is so familiar... so familiar... I need to apologise to her for--
No, that woman is not her...
But those green eyes, those eyes...
And that beautiful, soft voice...
