I woke up the next morning almost surprised to see Jeremiah laying right next to me. Me and Jere have had sleepovers before but that was when we were kids and other people were there. I smiled to myself, I loved the thought of waking up everyday with Jeremiah next to me. He looks so peaceful when he's asleep, not to mention adorable.
I looked at the time on my digital clock on my nightstand, 6:05am. My mom would murder me if she found out I let a boy stay over, even if it is just Jeremiah.
I hovered over him and shook him gently. When he didn't wake up from that I pushed him. He groaned and opened his eyes. Instantly he smiled. "Good morning Kirst." "Morning" He sat up, "What time is it?" "Six" "In the morning?!" "Yep." "That is so early," he complained and laid back down.
"You have to get up sleepy head." "Why? I just want to stay here with you." "My mom would kill me and you if she found out you stayed the night." "Ughhhhh" he finally got up. I laughed, "You're grumpy in the mornings." He walked over to me and wrapped his arms around my neck from behind following me to my closet. This was a gesture Jeremiah did often, it was one of my favorites.
I put my shoes on and walked him to the door. "I'll see you later" I said as he walked out the door, "Later" he said and winked at me as he began to walk down the driveway. I closed the door and took a deep breath. The effect Jeremiah Fisher is having on me this summer is seriously insane.
When I went back into my room I felt a feeling of emptiness. I'm not sure why. Maybe Jeremiah planted that feeling there after he left. I love spending time with Jere and I'm glad things are back to normal between us. He makes me distracted from all the shit that has happened and is happening in my life.
I sit on my bed and look at the spot where he just was. I get back in bed and go back to sleep.
I woke up to the sound of pounding of my door. "Kirsten!" My mom yelled barging into my room. "What?" I said lifting my head up. "I've been trying to call you all morning, I needed your help at the foundation" "Sorry mom, I was sleeping" "You need to be more responsible, I'm so sick of the way you have been acting lately" I looked at her dumbfounded, I was literally asleep.
I didn't respond and just laid my head back down on my pillow. "You need to start acting like an adult!" My mom said walking out of my room. "I will when you start treating me like one."She came storming back in, "What did you just say?" she glared at me, a mean mom glare. "I'm just saying that you treat me like I'm 5 but expect me to act like I'm 30" "That is it, you're grounded"
"What?" "You heard me" "Mom are you serious?" She didn't say anything but kept walking. I got out of bed and followed her, "You can't ground me I'm 18 I-" "You live under my roof I can do whatever the hell I want."
I stood there feeling defeated. I went back into my room to call Jere and tell him what just happened but, I couldn't find my phone anywhere. Thinking about it I haven't seen my phone since Jeremiah called me yesterday. I looked everywhere for it and there was no sign of it.
Kathrine walked out of her room, "Hey have you seen my phone anywhere?" I asked her. "Nope, but I can check your location" "Okay" I said following her into her room. She furrowed her eyebrows, "It's at some house?" "Shit" It must have fallen out of my pocket in the chaos at the party. "Whose house is that?" "There was a party last night it must have fallen out of my pocket." She snickered. "I gotta go get it" "I'll come with you." She stated "Really?" "Yeah, why not" I nodded, this will good, hopefully this will give us a chance to talk without fighting.
"So what's going on?" "With what?" "With you and mom?" "I don't even know" "I feel like all you guys ever do is fight" "Yeah! I don't know...she just hates me" "She doesn't hate you" I flashed her a small smile and we were silent the rest of the drive.
Luckily, my phone was on the porch. I retrieved it and it was shattered. "Great" I sighed. I tried to turn it on and it just glitched out. I walked back to the car, "Well it's broken" I said getting in. "Omg!" Kathrine said taking it out of my hands to get a better look. "What did you do?" "Nothing, I was just getting Jeremiah." She stayed quiet for a moment.
"Just so you know...I know you snuck Jeremiah in last night." My heart literally stopped beating. "I didn't" "Don't play dumb, I was on my morning run and saw him leaving." I covered my face with my hands. "Please don't tell mom!" She laughed, "I won't, I promise" "Thank you" I said taking a breath of relief.
"I've had my fair share of sneaking guys in." Now I was laughing, "Wait, really?" "Yeah...but, this isn't about me" She chuckled, "So why was Jeremiah here last night?" She said in a flirtatious voice. "Well, he was so drunk at this party, and needed a ride." "I just have to ask.." I looked over at her waiting for her to finish, "Did you two have sex?"
My jaw dropped, "What! No way!!" I started freaking out and she was laughing. "Okay okay! I was just doing my big sister duties is all." I was still taken aback that she just asked me that. "Well, do you like him?" She asked and I hesitated. "Kirsten Stark!" she smiled, "I don't know! We are like best friends" "You totally have a crush" "No no no...there's just something about him this summer" "He's cute for you" I smiled from ear to ear, "He is cute isn't he" I gush.
This got me thinking, do I like Jere like that?

Later that night I was sitting on my bed reading. Being grounded and having a broken phone, this is the only thing to do. While I was reading I heard something hit my window. I ignored it. Then it happened again, I looked up and didn't see anything. But then it happened again. I must be hearing things but, I do admit I was a little freaked out. I was staring at my window when I saw a rock hit it. I put my book down and walked over to my window.
I looked out and saw Jeremiah standing on the grass.
