The summer was getting closer and closer to being over. It was already August and the Deb ball was next week. I wasn't even wanting to go but Susannah said she already put my name down to be at their table. I should go and support Belly anyway, so I came to terms with it.
This had been one of the best summers ever and I can thank Jeremiah for that. He single handily made my summer what it was. I just love him.
That leads me to today, I would have never expected this to happen. I was going on a double date...with Conrad and Belly. I couldn't wrap my head around it.
We were on our way to get dinner. Jeremiah was a little upset that Conrad was coming with us. I told him to get over it, I didn't say it like that, but I still don't understand the constant feud those two have been in the summer.
"What do you think of Conrad and Belly?" I asked Jere as we pulled into the parking lot. "I think he's gonna break her heart." "Really?" I said surprised at his immediate negative response.
"That's just how Conrad is, and the way he's been acting lately he shouldn't even be in a relationship." Maybe Jere was right about that I thought thinking back to how their mom is sick.
Then my stomached dropped, Jeremiah doesn't even know. I turned my attention towards him because I wanted to tell him. Tell him everything. I stopped myself though, I don't feel like it's my place to tell him. Maybe she wasn't even sick? That's what I'm telling myself.
We walk into the building and Conrad and Belly already had a table.
The date went really well, it was just like we were all hanging out. Jeremiah and Conrad got along for the time being. Which was a pleasant surprise.
Now we were all going back to my house to watch a movie. My mom was with Susannah and Laurel tonight. I think that will be good for her, she's been working at the foundation nonstop. I've barely even seen her the last few weeks, I'm not complaining though.
Me and Belly walked in first because Jeremiah and Conrad were talking outside. Kamden and Brody were sitting on the couch. "Kamden move we're gonna watch a movie." "No way we were here first."
The boys walked in and since Kamden is in love with both of them he stood up, "Ugh, we'll move." He said irritated. They went and sat at the bar in the kitchen.
"Alright, what movie we watching?" Jere asked jumping into the couch. "Can we watch a romance movie?" Belly suggested. "No way, let's watch a thriller." Jeremiah argued. Those two began to bicker when Kamden and Brody started yelling about something.
All of our attention turned to them. "Let's go! Let's go!" Brody said, they stood up and realized we were all looking at them. "Rumor has it there is a party tonight." Kamden said.
"Really? Where?" Jeremiah asked. "It's on the other side of town. Jumper's cousin is throwing it."
"Conner?" Conrad asked, "Yeah I think so." "Conner is bad news all of his parties are insane. Like, to another level."
"So you're saying we should go?" Belly said. "No way." "Why not? I say let's do it." Jeremiah said standing up. Part of me thought Jere just wanted to argue with Conrad.
"Well if you guys go we'll see you there." Kamden said as him and Brody walked out. "Okay, if two 16 year olds are going I'm sure we are fine Con." Jere said. "Yeah let's just go what are we gonna do anyway?" Belly said.
"Watch a movie." Conrad said flatly. "Let's just go, we're gonna take thirty minutes to decide what genre of movie to watch anyway." I piped in. Jere smiled and put his arm around me. "That's my girl." I felt my cheeks get hot with a blush.
Conrad sighed, "Fine."
*****
Immediate regret filled me when we walked inside. It reeked of alcohol and weed. The room was filled with smoke from the amount of people smoking. I got a nervous feeling go through me. Maybe Conrad was right.
We dragged Steven along with us because we didn't want to leave him out. Well, Jeremiah and Conrad didn't want to leave him out.
We all stood there like we didn't know what to do. "Well uh, let's get a drink." Jeremiah said taking lead of the group. We all followed him further into the house. Everywhere I looked there was a couple making out or someone smoking, which was honestly normal for a party. Something about it though, I was not liking the vibes.
We found the kitchen and Jeremiah began pouring a drink. A girl next to us was lining up a white substance on the counter, which I assume was coke. I was staring at her when she began snorting it. I noticed Conrad was watching too. We gave each other a look.
"So, should we leave?" I said kind of joking, kind of not. "Yes, we should." Conrad agreed. "Guys we just got here." Steven complained. "I don't care, we shouldn't be here." Conrad argued. "I don't know guys, the vibes are weird." Belly said folding her arms, she looked like she was afraid to touch anything.
"Guys stop being babies," Jere said starting to hand us drinks. "Lets just have some drinks and in ten minutes you guys will be having a good time." He flashed me a reassuring smile and that somehow convinced me to take the drink from his hand.
"I don't know." Conrad said looking around. "C'mon Con stop being so lame." Jere said. "Fine whatever, I'll stay." He said taking the drink and downing it.
Well here we go.
Honestly I have been having a good time. Once the alcohol hit I was fine. We were all dancing and laughing, even Conrad. The night really turned around, Jeremiah and Steven smoked something, me and Belly took some shots, and the vibes were no longer bad. Conrad kind of held back because he wanted to be okay to drive.
After about an hour, we were all ready to leave. Belly had thrown up on Steven and that's when we decided we should get out of here. Steven disposed of his shirt after yelling at Belly, she just laughed though.
I personally felt awful, I seem to always forget that a headache accompanies drinking.
We somehow all made it to the car. Conrad got in the drivers side and was messing with the seat settings. "Hey don't mess with that, I had it just where I liked it!" Jeremiah complained. "Do you want me to drive or not?" Conrad asked. "I could totally drive."
"No!" We all collectively said seeing that Jere was the most messed up out of us all. "See, so just stay back there and mind your business." Conrad said. Jere hit his shoulder. "Don't hit me," Conrad said reaching back and hitting Jeres leg. "Hey!" Then they got into a fight, it was like watching two little girls fight.
Then someone knocked on Conrad's window. It was a cop.
