Today is the day of the Deb ball, I was walking over to help Belly get ready. She had asked me to help her with her hair and makeup, even though I didn't know much, how could I say no?

When I arrived their house was in shambles. Susannah was stressed and wanted to make sure that the day is perfect, she was running around the house like a mad man.

Laurel was steaming Belly's dress, she was more calm than Susannah was. Jeremiah and Conrad were outside doing something, I'm not sure exactly what they were doing. Finally, Steven was bugging us.

"I just don't want her to hate me." Steven complained talking about Shayla. "She doesn't hate you...I'm not sure why she doesn't?" Belly snarked.

"I just want to make it up to her." Steven seemed genuinely sorry for his actions, I kind of felt bad for him. At the same time I didn't at all, he had been an asshole.

"Why don't you go to her house with flowers and her favorite candy? That would be really nice of you and it will show her that you care." I suggested while applying concealer on Belly.

Steven's eyes lit up, "That is a great idea! Thanks Kirsten!" He said running down the hallway. He came back and stuck his head in, "Do you guys know what her favorite candy is?"

"Get out!" Belly yelled the same time I yelled, "Steven!"

He nodded, "I'll figure it out."

Me and Belly shared a laugh. I grabbed the blush when Belly's face altered. "You okay?" "Yeah, I'm just feeling a little nervous." "Don't be, you'll do great besides Conrad is your escort." I smirked. She giggled, "I don't even know how I managed to get him to go with me, it seemed like he hated this type of stuff." "He must really like you then." I teased, "Ugh! You can't tell me that!"

I continued to do her makeup. I wasn't the best but I was trying my hardest to make her look amazing. I felt like I had too since she trusted me to help her on her big day.

"Okay," I said holding up a mirror for her to see herself. "Wow, Kirsten!" She cheered. I smiled, "You look gorgeous." I said admiring her makeup and hair while also giving myself a pat on the back.

"Lets go show Susannah!" She said getting up and walking down the hallway. I followed her and there was no one to be seen. "Huh? That's weird where did Susannah and my mom go?" Belly said walking down the stairs. "I'm not sure?" I said confused, they were here a minute ago.

I looked out the window and saw Jere and Conrad, "There's the boys." I said beginning to walk towards the door. "Good, I want to see Conrad's reaction." She smiled as we both walked outside.

The second we stepped outside I could tell something was off. I don't think Belly noticed it but, I did. When we got closer to the boys I realized that they were yelling at each other.

"Hey guys!" Belly said but they didn't acknowledge us.

"How could you not tell me!" Jeremiah yelled, "I wanted to, but there was never a good time!" Conrad yelled back. "Bullshit! This whole summer you've been keeping things from me!" "Jere, stop acting like a child." That's when Conrad noticed us and his eyes traveled between me and Belly.

We were standing there so confused. Then Jeremiah swung at Conrad and punched him in the face. Me and Belly both gasped, Belly's hands went up to her mouth covering it. Conrad and Jeremiah began to fight on the grass. In this moment I had no idea what to do.

I didn't even hear Laurel come outside but all of sudden she was in front of us breaking up their fight. "What the hell is going on out here?" She yelled while standing in between the boys. Jere had tears streaming down his face.

"He knows, Laurel." Conrad said standing up. "And I know."

My heart dropped into my stomach. Oh no. I saw Laurels anger turn into realization.

"Know what?" Belly asked. Laurel turned her direction towards us, "Why don't you girls get going to the clubhouse, your dress is steamed and ready to go. Kirsten you can drive." Laurel said tossing me the keys.

We both stood there. I was waiting for an explanation on what just happened. Even though I think I know.

"Well go, you don't want to be late." She said shooing us away. Conrad was looking at me and just from his face I knew. What I have been denying was actually true, and Jere just found out about it.

I wanted to run and comfort Jere but I was so stunned by Laurel's dismissal of us that I just walked with Belly back to the house.

"What was that all about?" Belly asked me. "I have no idea." I said, which wasn't totally a lie, I had no idea why Jere punched Conrad. The rest I unfortunately knew.

*****

"Okay I'm going to go change are you good here?" I said to Belly. "Yeah I'm good, thank you so much for everything." I smiled at her, "Of course"

I was about to walk away when she started talking again, "Do you think Conrad and Jeremiah are okay?" "Yeah, I'm sure they're fine." I didn't know if they were but to calm Belly's nerves I said that. She nodded, but I'm not sure if she 100% believed me.

"Okay, well you look hot, I'll see you out there." I said hugging her while she was sitting in the dressing room chair. She flashed me a smile and I left to get changed.

I had brought my dress to the clubhouse because I knew I wouldn't have to time to go back home, so I was just getting ready here.

I walked out to find to find Susannah and Laurel sitting at our table. I walked over to them, "Hey!" Susannah turned, "Oh my goodness there's my beautiful girl!" She stood up to hug me. "You look fantastic." She beamed.

"Thank you!" I said but, I couldn't help but feel a little sad. Was Susannah really sick? It made me nauseous thinking about it.

"Belly looks stunning," I said sitting down. "That's great I'm so excited to see her." Susannah said sitting down next to me.

It was getting closer and closer to the announcing of the Debs and that's when I noticed that Conrad and Jeremiah were no where to be seen. Susannah must have read my mind because she announced to our table, "Where's Connie and Jere?"

"I'm not sure," Laurel said looking around. "I can go find them." I said getting up. Susannah and Laurel gave me a reassuring smile. I walked out of the banquet hall and down the hallway. For some reason my heart was beating out of my chest.

As I was reaching the front doors, Conrad was rushing inside, "Did it start? Am I late?" He said frazzled. "No you're good, its about to start though." I said as he was rushing past me. I grabbed his arm and he swung around to face me. "Are you okay?"

He stared at me and I could tell he wasn't. "I will be." And he walked off towards the banquet hall.

Well I found Conrad now I need to find Jere.
