It's the 4th of July and I am so excited. I have been getting ready all morning because I want to look good. Is it because of Jeremiah? Maybe. Today was the perfect summer day. The sun was shining, there was a slight breeze and the vibes were immaculate.
Jeremiah is on his way to pick me up. We haven't spoken about our kiss, even though it was the best make out of my whole life. We ended on a good note unlike last time, so I'm hoping it's not weird.
Usually my whole family goes to Susannahs for the 4th, but my mom is going to be at the foundation all day. I think she did that on purpose, maybe the fact that my dad won't be there this year is too much for her. Kamden is with Brody's family so, Kathrine ended up not coming down. So, just me was going over.
Jeremiah texted me,
"Here!"
I was ecstatic. I ran downstairs and out the door. He was leaned up against his red jeep and wow, he looked good. "Hey Kirst!" He cheered. "Hi!" He embraced me into a hug and I got a whiff of his smell, I could smell that all day. "You look nice," he said while his eyes trailed up and down my body.
"Thanks! You don't look too bad yourself." "I try" He said and we got into his jeep. It was not weird between us at all, if anything it was better than before. It felt like we were closer.
Susannah greeted us at the door, "Hello! Come in come in!" She gave me a hug, there is no hug quite like Susannahs. "There's my girl! Happy 4th." "It's our favorite holiday!" I said to her, "That it is, come here I want to show you the cake that me and Belly are working on." She brings me into the kitchen. Belly was sat at the table with a cake in front of her. "Hey Belly!" I said, "Hey!" I sat down next to her. "Okay girls, make this cake look amazing!" Susannah cheerfully instructed us. I don't think I can recall a time where Susannah wasn't happy.
Me and Belly started decorating when Conrad came flying through the door. Without saying anything he stomped upstairs. Me and Belly gave each other a look. Then Mr. Fisher walked in. "Connie come on!" his dad yelled up the stairs. "Hey what's going on?" Susannah asked. "It's nothing" Mr. Fisher said and then began to walk upstairs.
I have never liked Mr. Fisher. He always tells me to call him Adam, I never will. He always seemed to put Conrad before Jere and that always made me mad because I would never want Jeremiah to feel how I always felt growing up.
I glanced over at Jeremiah who was watching his father run up the stairs. "Wonder what that was about?" Belly said but only to me, then her eyes lit up. "I invited Cam and he should be soon!" "Things are going good between you guys then?" "Yes! Well...I think they are." She leaned in closer to me and whispered, "He kissed me the other day." "No way!" I squealed. "How was it?" "Good!" We shared a laugh. I wanted to tell Belly about me and Jere, but I was going to let her have her moment.
"Oooh the cake looks good!" Jeremiah said taking a bit of frosting on his finger and licking it. "Jeremiah!" Belly hissed, he laughed and sat down next to me. "You did all of this?" He said looking at the cake that was covered in white icing, raspberries and blueberries. "Me and Belly did." "Well it looks great and it's delicious" He said sneaking another lick of icing.
He rested his hand on my thigh. I took a quick breath in. Jeremiah has always been physical but I am going to have to get used to this.
Then I noticed Belly's sour face. "What's wrong Bells?" Jeremiah asked noticing it as well. "What if he doesn't show up?" "I'm sure he will, he doesn't seem like the type to stand you up." I said trying to reassure her. "Who?" Steven asked walking in with Shayla. "Cam!" "Belly calm down he'll show up." Jeremiah said. "Okay, yeah you're right."
Steven and Shayla sat down with us. I turned to look at Jere, he was already looking at me. A look that was sweet but seductive. I wanted to kiss him right here, but I couldn't. I feel like he felt the same way because he kept looking down at my lips. He leaned in and whispered, "How about we go upstairs?" Chills got sent throughout my body. Before I could answer Mr. Fisher walked in and diverted Jeremiah's attention away from me.
