I'm back.

I'm back to the moment I buried so deep in my brain just to never think of it.

And now I'm forced to relive it all over again.

~

"I'm hungry" I muttered, looking at the water dripping from the roof down to the stone floor.

Kay sighed, "He'll let us out eventually"

"We shouldn't even be here in the first place" I rolled my eyes. "What kind of father locks his kids in a dungeon"

"The psychotic kind that we were given" Kay threw a rock at the wall, distracting me from the water.

I looked at him sitting on the opposite side of the cold room, hair mattered, cheeks hollowed out, dirt clinging to his skin, and eyes oh so void it hurt to look at them.

Not that I looked any better.

"How long have we been here?" I ask, ignoring the twist of hunger in my stomach.

He looked around the basement as he thought, "His friends got here three days ago, he locked us up the day before"

"Four days and counting" I sighed out, leaning my head back on the stone wall.

Silence.

What a tricky thing to have.

There's moments where silence can be peaceful, relaxing even. It can be a time of meditation - a time to think.

But to me, silence is a quiet killer. When it's silent there's nothing to keep my thoughts away, nothing to distract me from the horrible moments I experience.  Every sound intensifies, the water dripping from the roof, the muffled footsteps walking above us, the muffled voices of the people invading my house.

Silence makes me want to scratch my skin raw. It's a punishment I haven't found a way to tolerate yet.

"Stop"

I turned my head to Kay, eyebrows furrowed. "What?"

He just looked down to where I was subconsciously biting at the skin off my lips, making me stop instantly when I realized what I was doing.

"Sorry"

Kay just looked at me for a minute before shakily standing up and walking over to me, the lack of food weakening his body. He sat down next to me and grabbed my limp hand, intertwining our fingers together with silent encouragement.
