Mama LeClaire's House
Franklin, Tennessee
I woke up to Luke slightly nudging my shoulders.
"Babe, it's time to wake up. The boys are all ready to go. Brooke and Derrick just arrived. Kerri is meeting us up there."
I groggily rubbed my eyes, feeling everything come back to me at an overwhelming pace. The threat. The house. Going to the cabin. I instantly sat up.
"Luke," I said quickly. "It'll take us almost nine hours to get there."
Luke owned a cabin in Fairview, Michigan which was quite a ways north.
Luke placed his hand on my shoulder. "I know, babe. That's why we're leaving at dawn."
I shook my head and place my fingertips on my temples. This is why I need sleep. Of course, the stress didn't help the matters. All it did was make it worse. And one thing's for sure, this baby will be born healthy.
"I'm sorry. The lack of sleep and all of this added stress on my shoulders isn't helping at all, is it?"
Luke smiled. "It's quite all right sweetie. We're going to get out of this one way or the other."
I swung my legs over the edge of the bed and stood in front of the vanity mirror, messing with my tasseled hair to make it look semi decent.
"Honey," Luke said. I looked in the mirror and saw him standing there with his arms crossed.
I scoffed. "Don't worry, I'm not going to get ready. I'll do that at the cabin." I turned and walked up to him. he wrapped me in his arms. "But, if I didn't fix my crazy ass mane this morning, I'd give the children nightmares. I looked like Godzilla."
Luke chuckled. "That you did."
I slapped his ass and slanted my eyes at him. "You weren't supposed to agree."
Luke smirked and growled. "Well if agreeing with you at times I'm not supposed to makes you do that, then honey, I'm obliged to do so willingly."
I laughed and slapped his ass again. "Now look who's procrastinating."
I headed out of the guest bedroom and down the hall I could hear Luke holler back. "You better stop that little miss Caroline."
I just rolled my eyes and headed to the kitchen to get the kids into the truck.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
We made it to the cabin at about 8 p.m. For the most part, all three of the kids were good. That sat and did something, entertaining themselves. Bo was playing on his Nintendo 3DS and Tate had his action figures out. Til was on his phone like a typical teenager texting only God knows who. Luke and I have been trying to guess, and from the looks of it, we think it's a girl. Wouldn't surprise me.
Luke shut the truck off and everyone piled out. Him and Derrick unloaded the luggage from the tailgate while everyone else headed towards the cabin.
"Bo, Tate. Take your shoes off and go to the basement to play." I said as we entered the cabin.
The boys hastily slipped out of their shoes and ran to the basement door. I laughed, wishing I could be as oblivious to the situation we were in as they were.
I hollered at them as they barreled down the basement steps, closing the door behind them. "And no fighting or you'll both be in big trouble."
I entered the kitchen figuring we might as well have a little supper seeming as we've been on the road all day. A nice meal would allow us all to relax for a bit. I got out some pots and pans then stopped, realizing there was no food. I was going to have Luke go pick some up from the only store in town.
