-hurt feelings-

After picking up Jamie from school, in the car Changbin had tried to cheer up his son. He had tried all kinds of things like making jokes, talking about things that Jamie liked and asking questions about random things to distract him, but it didn't work.

Jamie just grew sleepier with every passing second and by the time they were at home, he could barely keep his eyes open. Changbin assumed that he was just exhausted from crying and that he needed time to process whatever he had cried about.

But when Changbin carried him into the house, he noticed that Jamie's forehead was really hot. He clearly had a fever and it concerned Changbin, so he decided to sit down on the couch with him, not wanting Jamie to fall asleep in his bed, alone.

"Try to sleep a bit." Changbin whispered and almost instantly, Jamie's eyes closed and his breath became even, cuddled against his father.

This really concerned Changbin. Was it because of Jamie's mother? Did he feel bad because he didn't know her? Did he miss her? Did he want a mother? Did Jamie need a mother figure?

Those thoughts of his wife made Changbin tear up and he subconsciously pulled his son closer. He did miss her, a lot and every day he wished she was here to see their son grow up. All those things she was missing, hurt him.

Jamie looked a lot like her and sometimes it did feel as if she was still with him, but it didn't change the fact that he wanted to talk to her one last time, to tell her how much he loved her. "Livie." He whispered her name, that rolled off his tongue so easily, even though he hadn't used it in such a long time.

While he was stroking Jamie's back soothingly, he noticed that maybe it was time to move on. He would never forget Olivia, he didn't want that and he couldn't. But he couldn't continue living his life alone, he needed someone else, to really make Jamie happy and he himself wanted to feel whole again as well.

The problem was that he couldn't just force himself to love the first person he saw. It had been years since he had been on a date, let alone a first date, where would he even find someone?

Changbin looked up, whispering, "I wish you were here." She'd encourage him to do it, he knew that. She'd tell him to find someone, who made him happy.

His thoughts were interrupted, when he heard someone open the door. Quickly, he blinked the tears in his eyes away, knowing that it had to be Hyunjin.

"Oh, you're here already." Hyunjin said, surprised, when he saw Changbin in the living room. Usually, Changbin worked longer and Jamie would still be in school, but he just shrugged, sitting down on the other couch. Only then he noticed Jamie in his arms. "What happened?"

The rather loud footsteps woke up Jamie, making him lift his head, opening his heavy eyes and blinking a few times before he noticed that Hyunjin was here.

"I'm not sure. His teacher called me because he was crying." He leaned down to kiss Jamie's warm forehead, running a hand through his hair. "And now he has a fever."

Concerned, yet curious, Hyunjin turned his head to the two again, after lying down on the couch. "Do you have an idea why he cried?"

Jamie looked like he couldn't process their words anyway, so they could speak about him without him feeling bad afterwards. "The only reason I can think of is her."

Hyunjin sighed. He had the feeling that Changbin was thinking about his wife a lot more, lately. He had even noticed Changbin's wedding ring on the older's table a few days ago, he hadn't worn it in years and it concerned him.
