"I'M GOING ON A DATE WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT!!"
"You will not. You're too young for that-"
"I'm fifteen! I lived on the streets for two whole years! What makes you think I can't handle this? Besides, nothing would happen. Senpai would pass out before anything could even start"
"That's not the point. The point is that you are still a child and don't need a boyfriend."
"But I want a boyfriend. And besides. Senpai is the coolest. He's sweet and fun and quiet and just amazing."
"NO."
"I'm going anyways."
"NO"
"You can't stop me."
Amajiki walks in to a horror. It is your being held in Aizawa's scarf, yelling that he releases you and Aizawa yelling back that he will not let you leave the house if it is on a date. The older boy stares, unsure of what to do. Then, you and your adoptive father look at him, two totally different expressions on your faces.
"Senpai!" you shout. "There you are! I'll be ready to leave in a few minutes! Just gotta get unstuck!"
"No." says Aizawa.
'S- S- Sir, uh- p- p- please? S- she'l be home around 4:00."
"NO"
Now, Amajiki is a bit frustrated. He has been liking you for a long time and now you two are finally together. Why must Aizawa try and prevent your dates. Taking a deep breath, he tries to calm himself down.
"Please? If you're worried about how she'll be treated, there's no point. If I wanted to treat her badly, I could've easily done so since the beginning. Even when we first met. You don't need to be so overprotective of her."
"So?"
"So please just let is go out! I've been looking forward to it all week."
"..."
"Back by 3:00. Not a second later. Understand."
"Y- yes, Sir"
Her releases you, so you grab Amajiki's hand and make for the door. He stumbles a bit at first, but then your excited attitude rubs off on him, which allows him to take the lead. He brings you to a park that inhabits many butterflies. Smiling, you play with them, retaining Amajiki's attention.
Unknowingly, he mutters, "You're so cute."
"Eh?" He freezes. "Thanks."
"Uh-I-"
"Did you not mean to say that aloud?"
"N- not really."
"Oh. Well I still appreciate it."
"M- mhm."
"Man. It's nice getting out of the house. Mr. Aizawa is so strict." You scrunch your nose in irritation. "I mean, he wants to go all father-figure all of a sudden. I can't stand it."
"It's because he cares."
"Eh? You're not seriously siding with him, are you?"
"N- no! I-I mean, you two have been through a lot together. After all, he's been putting in the effort for you and has come to view you as a daughter. He's naturally nurturing, as anyone can see by the way he treats his class. He just- he just wants to protect you from every bad thing in the world. l... can respect that."
"When you put it like that, it's hard to be angry." This realization makes you frown. "Honestly, he means a lot to me. I just don't know how ti feel about all the father-figure crap. My actual father...it was rough. And I understand Mr. Aizawa is doing what he thinks is best and I'm also aware that in most cases, he is right--but I also wanna be a normal teenage girl who hates her dad, okay? Give me this, okay?"
Smiling a bit, he goes, "You don't have to hate anyone to be normal."
"No, but I do lack in all other areas. Not everyone can say they've gone from fighting Suneater to dating him. Or gone from mugging old ladies to saving them."
"You're not normal, but... I like you the way that you are."
"The way that I am? Well, I'm a psycho and a bit schizophrenic. I like sweets too much and that sometimes results in poor diet decisions. I'm a total nerd but also fights well. I have some sadistic qualities. Your type is a bit weird, Senpai."
"Yeah.... I don't even know."
"But, I can't say I'm upset. It makes me happy."
"Y-yeah."
As a butterfly lands on your hand, you say, "These little guys are so pretty. They remind me of you."
"E- eh? W- why?"
"Because...they're so beautiful that you want them. So, you go to catch one. But the moment you think you're close enough to reach out to them, they fly away. That's what happened with us, don't you think? I thought I made so much progress while at UA. But then it felt that it was all in my head . You got quiet and we were so stuck. Nothing. It was like you just left. Of course, I'd assume I thought wrong considering where we're at now, but still."
"That's a nice simile."
"Yeah? I tend to liken people to animals because of my quirk. I think of myself like a cat."
"A cat?"
"I'm cute until you get too close, because I will scratch, hiss, and bite. I only want attention when I want it. If I don't like you, I glare. Kitty."
"That makes a lot of sense."
"Anyway, it's 2:30, so we should go back before Mr. Aizawa comes to murder you himself. C'mon." You grab him by the hand and start dragging him.
"M-M-M-MURDER?!?!?!"
You get back home about 2:45, which makes Aizawa happy. Sitting on the couch, you think of what Amajiki said. Is that really case? Is this really just his way of protecting you? Eying him, you find nothing in his blank expression.
"What?" he finally asks.
"Why are you so strict?"
"Because I can be."
"That's a dumb excuse. I knew it... Senpai was wrong."
"Eh? What are you talking about?"
Shrugging, you reply, "Well I was telling him how overbearing you are, and he said that it was just you being protective because you care. I knew he was wrong:"
"Y/n, what's going on? Are you upset or something?"
"I mean... yeah..."
"About?"
"About all of these situations!" You stand up. "I mean, I hate the fact that, as a former criminal, I'm now being raised by some cranky hero, as opposed to my real father who didn't even want me. I hate the fact that you wanna just step in as some father-figure and be all strict even though I was just fine before meeting you and having that. I hate the fact that after all the time I spent being independent, I have to rely on you just to survive now! It's all so frustrating!"
"Well, for one, you're not a criminal. You were a child that was just trying to survive in a cruel world. And as far as you real father goes, he was stupid. Not all men are respected when given the joy of having a child. I'm stepping in because I know how lonely you are. I see the way you eye other girls with their dads, and I'm aware that you may never want me as a father, but I want you to have the option and later you won't be able to say that I never tried. And you should rely on someone else. You're fifteen, and its natural to need people."
"But I don't want to! I was fine on my own!"
"No, you weren't. You were bruised up and looked like a mess You were depressed and starving. Is that fine to you?"
"Yes! It is! That's all I've ever known so it's perfectly fine!"
"No, it isn't. I get that you're angry, and I also know that you have a lot of pent-up emotions that you probably don't understand, but you're gonna be okay, You're better off here than where you were."
"You think I don't know that?! I'm fully aware!"
"Then what's your problem?"
"I don't even know! I'm just angry! Gosh! Leave me alone!"
You storm up the stairs, which leaves Aizawa shaking his head. You are so troublesome. What will he do with you?
After getting ready for school, you walk downstairs to find that the kitchen smells amazing. Following your nose, you find your favorite breakfast on the table for you. Suspiciously, you sit down, not seeing Aizawa anywhere. He is probably already at the school.
When you get to school, he is there, talking something over with Midoriya. Forcing a big smile onto your face, you run up and grab the green-haired boys shoulders from behind, causing him to jump and scream.
"Haha. I scared you."
"I don't know how you manage to do this everyday. Theoretically speaking, I should be able to anticipate it, but each time I still scream and.." he begins to mumble a lot of nonsense to himself, so you roll your eyes playfully.
"Wanna go to class together? Senpai isn't here because he had some stuff to do"
"Sure!"
The two of you start walking into the classroom, leaving Aizawa nodding at you. At least you seem to be in a better mood now, right?
Class itself is boring, but come lunch, Amajiki is there so you go to his table, grinning. He returns your smile, which make your cheeks warm with happiness. Sitting beside him, you start up a small conversation, which is filled with smiles and giggles. As always, Hado and Mirio join n and the whole interaction is fun. However, in the back of your mind rings the harsh words you said to Aizawa. They were not right and you owe him an apology. After all he did take you in, got you
into school, and cares for you well.
So, once the school day is over, you pop into his office. Lifting his head to look at you, he raises an eyebrow.
"What is it?"
"I just wanted to apologize. I was kinda rude last night, and... it was wrong. I'm sorry."
He just grunts, but that makes you mad.
"You know, the least you could do is say something! Aren't you mad at me? Don't you wanna scold me?"
"Not really. You're still adjusting and I need to have patience. I can't force you to be happy, so I won't even try. I do, however, expect you to stop pretending like you're always fine in front if your friends. You're only hurting yourself that way you know."
"My problems aren't their business."
"Most of them worry about you."
"Well, that's a waste of their time."
"It isn't. That's what friends are supposed to do. You justify yourself helping them and worrying about them, but when they try to do the same for you, you push them away."
"That's because I'm not as important."
"You're wrong:"
"-"
"You need to let go of the baggage. I helped you so you'd have a new life. Accept the fact that you're surrounded by people who love and care about you."
"What about you?
"What?"
"Do you also love and care about me? Senpai... Senpai said that you really do see me as a daughter... but...but I'm not so sure-"
"I do"
"Really?"
"Yes"
"Then why are you such a jerk?"
"I don't think letting you stay in my home is very jerk-like."
"You know what? Shut up. I'm going home"
You walk out and find Amajiki, who's face is red. Smiling, you grab his hand and go home. Along the way, you admit to yourself that he was right this whole time. Maybe you should listen to him more often. Yes, you should it would save you a lot of trouble.
You never did listen to him. Because you are so stubborn, you learned every lesson the hard way, leaving Amajiki to shake his head at you and support your anyway. You never will learn, will you?
