Namtan's POV
It's my first day at the academy. Finally, today has come. The new beginning. I'm so excited. I already sent my clothes to the Red House. "Namtan, don't forget about your goal. Your goal to be the best." My dad reminded me. We were having breakfast, my dad, my mom, and I. "Yes, dad." I answered. "Don't forget, you have to apply for the right hand man position. That's going to guarantee you to be the leader next year." Dad continued. I nodded. My dad was the house leader in his time, and now he's the leader of Fire Clan. And my older brother is the leader of the house right now. But he's in his 5th year, so this is his last year. Talk about coincidence, huh. "Relax, would you. It's her first day of college. Let her enjoy her life and have some fun." My mom scolded him. "She can have fun and be the leader at the same time." My dad won't back down. My mom and dad loves to argue. They said it's their love language. But I won't tell my dad my real goal. My real goal is to find a boyfriend. I want romance. I want to experience the first kiss. I'm so going to get it this year. I finished my breakfast and went to the academy.
I arrived, and the academy is huge. I got in, showed my acceptance letter and they let me inside. I looked around and it was amazing. I didn't watch where I was going, and accidently bumped into someone. He caught me just in time. Oh, this is so like a Korean drama romance I often watched on streaming service. I looked into his eyes. So blue. Oh my God, look at that face, and those eyes. Wait, blue? "Oh God, you're a Blue." I untangled myself from him. "Wow. You're welcome." He sarcastically said. "Sorry, I didn't mean it like..." he left. He fucking left before I finished my sentence. Fuck, he's so rude. I turned around and almost bumped into someone else. What the hell is wrong with me? "So sorry." I apologized. "It's okay." He smiled that beautiful smile. Okay, is every guys in this academy just super hot? Is that a requirement to enter this place? "My name is Win." He offered his hand. "Namtan." I shook it. "Are you a first year student too?" I nodded. "Me too. Come on, let's go to the auditorium." We went to the auditorium, and I can feel my heart started beating faster.
Several weeks later...
We were on our first meeting. I became the right hand man of the Red House. That was expected, because my brother is the leader. We introduced ourselves one by one. "Hi, my name is Namtan, and I'm the right hand man of the Red House. Nice to meet you all." I introduced myself. "Namtan is my little sister, but that's not why she became the right hand man. She is capable, and I know it." My brother explained. They all nodded and we moved on. Or I thought we did. "I'm Bright, and I'm the right hand man of the Blue House. Well, unlike some people, I don't have any relation whatsoever with my current leader. In fact, the first time we met was the very first day I moved into blue house. So, he saw me as someone who's perfectly capable, not just someone who he grew up with." He totally threw the shades at me. "O...kay, let's move on to..." mr.Arm tried to brush him off, but not my brother. "Dude, my sister is perfectly capable. In fact, she can kick your ass right now." He challenged him. "Well, I know my right hand man is perfectly capable in kicking you right hand man's ass. The only problem is, is she going to cry when she lose? Hide behind her brother?" The Blue House leader threw the gasoline to the fire. "Wanna bet on it?" Fuck. My brother totally lost his mind. "The loser will have to carry the winner's bags for a week." Blue house leader offered his hand, and my brother shook it. "Come on Bright, let's show them what you got." We went to the field. I was so confident I'm going to win the battle, but in the end, I tasted my first defeat. No, don't get me wrong. I AM strong. Bright is just stronger. In the end, I lost the fight. I went back to the red house, thinking I should resign as his right hand man. I felt humiliated and unworthy. "Don't you dare." was my brother's first words. "You know you're capable. So what if you lose. You're not weak. You're not a spoiled little princess who got everything handed to you. Our parents never taught us to be weak. Now, you lost one battle and you wanted to runaway? Who are you? My little sister will train harder and prove to everyone that she's amazing." He was so mad. I took a deep breath, and decided to train harder. My brother was right, I AM capable. And I'll make everyone see me as something more than just the leader's sister. I'll prove it. Just wait and see.
The next day...
I was on my way to the library, when I met someone. It was Win. "Namtan, you were so awesome yesterday." He tried to praise me. "No, I'm not. I lost the fight." I raised my shoulders. "Yeah, but not because you're weak." He tried to convince me. We arrived at the library. "Namtan... will you go on a date with me?" He asked me out of nowhere. I tried to keep my cool, but inside, I screamed so loud. "Okay, sure. Just text me the time and date." I kept a straight face. Win smiled from ear to ear. "Okay, I'll do that." He started typing on his phone, and seconds later, my phone chimed. "Later." He was about to leave. "Okay. Ciao." I said Ciao. Ciao? Really? I blushed and went to the library without turning around. "Ciao? You said ciao?" Janhae, my best friend, teased me. "This is embarrassing. Is it too late to cancel?" I rubbed my head. "No, you can't. Just go on a date with him." She tried to convince me.
I went on a date with him, and we started dating. I was on cloud nine. Everything is perfect. Everything is good. Or I thought it was good. Turns out, not so much. "What do you mean we should break up?" I dropped my jaw. Win suddenly suggested that we should end our relationship. We never had a fight, we never had a dispute, and now he wanted to break up. "I.. Namtan, we won't end up together, you know that. I'm a sky blue, and you're red. Your clan is so territorial. I highly doubt your dad is going to give us his blessing." He tried to reason with me. "You don't know that. Maybe he will.." I still tried to process this. How dare he.. "No, he won't. You know that he won't. So I'll save us both from a very long heart break." So he doesn't want to fight for us. He wanted to end this. "So, you wanted to end this? Okay, fine." I started to leave. "Namtan, please, you have to listen to me." What more does he want? I already said yes to his request. "I don't need to listen to you. You wanted to end this, and I said yes. Our relationship is over." I left him.
I went to the library, my favorite place. I went there, and I hid on one of the aisles. The very secluded one. I don't want people to see me cry. I'm not weak. I don't want to cry because of a stupid thing like romance. But it hurts so bad. It hurts so much. I wanted the earth to swallow me. I sobbed and sobbed. Suddenly, one person accidently walked pass my aisle. It was Bright. Shit. He saw me cry. I don't want him to see me cry. He walked towards me. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Is he going to tease me? He looked at me, said nothing, and sat besides me. I leaned on his shoulder and sobbed harder. He stayed there in silent and let me borrow his shoulder.
I calmed down after a few minutes. It feels so good to cry my eyes out. We sat there in silent for a whole minute. "He broke up with me." I don't know why I told him. "Win?" I nodded. "Said we don't belong together. Fire and sky won't end up together." I felt so stupid. "Do you want my two cents?" I nodded again. "If he really loves you, he's going to fight for you no matter what happened." I thought for a second, and he was right. "He didn't fight for you and chose the easy way. On one hand, you're gonna have a heartache for a while. But on the other hand, don't you feel relieved?" I frowned. "Relieved?" "Yes. At least you don't have to waste your time for someone like that." It made sense. "But it still sucks, I know, when you like someone and turns out he doesn't like you back the way you deserve it." He smiled that sad smile. "Bright... do you..." I looked into his eyes. "Do you have a crush on me?" I joked. "Hahahahaha, no. Not at all." He laughed. I laughed too. "Oh, you're so mean. You could've at least pretend for a second." We laughed. I don't feel so sad anymore. "Nah, I have a crush on my childhood friend. He's a year younger than me." He confessed. "So, what's stopping you from confessing your feeling to him?" Now I'm curious. "Doesn't feel right, I guess. He never sees me that way." He frowned. "Don't worry, one day you're going to have the courage to confess."
We got up from the floor. "Does this mean we're friends now?" I teased him. He thought for a second. "No, we're not. We're more than friends." He paused for a second. "We're rivals." He offered his fist, and I bumped it. "Rivals. I like that."
I went back to my house. Now, I have a new goal in mind. I don't want romance anymore. I want to defeat Bright, my biggest rival. I'll train harder, and become stronger than ever, and then I'm going to beat his ass. Just you wait, blue.
