I'm publishing this on a Friday instead of a Saturday because I'll be a bit busy on Saturday - sorry for any confusion. 🙃
The next day after school, when Biana was at Sophie's Dex used up his free time by fiddling with one his latest inventions. It was a mini-drone of some sort. He didn't really know what to call it. He'd been tweaking the propellers (sorry I really don't know anything about meachanics) when he heard a tapping at his window. Dex glanced up.
He went to his balcony window, opened it up and... almost got nailed in the face in with a rock. "Dude, what the hell?" he shouted down from the balcony. "Wow! Dexipoo's using big boy words now!" Dex groaned. He'd recognise that annoying female voice anywhere. It was them. "I know, they grow up so fast," Lex agreed, wiping a fake tear from his eye. Dex's siblings looked up and started laughing hysterically at the look on Dex's face. "H-his ... face! He ... looks like ... like an angry chipmunk!" Rex wheezed out between breaths. "So, did you guys just come here to insult me, or ... ?" Dex said, glaring down at them. The triplets were pretty much the worst older siblings anyone could ask for. "Before we answer that question..." Bex said, pausing for dramatic effect. "You need to come down here, it feels weird having to look up at you," Rex and Lex nodded in agreement. Dex rolled his eyes and reluctantly trudged downstairs to meet them outside.
"So, why are you living there?" Rex asked, gesturing to the window of Dex's dorm room. Dex raised an eyebrow. "Uh, 'cause I go to East Way High," he answered. Lex rolled his eyes. "Yeah, we know. But, like, you guys can go home on the weekends," Dex clenched his fists. He'd had enough of this. "You guys know full well why I don't want to go home," he snapped. Although Lex had always been the jokester, he didn't have any crack at that time.
For once, the triplets were quiet (watch me daaaance the night awayyyy ... sorry I'm listening to that song right now and it's probably stuck in your head now so, your welcome 👍👍👍). Bex was the one that finally spoke up - she'd always been the confident one. "We, uh, came to see you, Dex," Dex waited for her to elaborate. "And...?" Bex cleared her throat, voice shaky, " We wanted to make sure you were okay. And ... we ..." Her voice trailed off so Rex had to step in for her. He put a comforting hand on her shoulder. "We wanted to say sorry, Dex," Dex looked up from the ground he'd recently been very interested in. Rex had always been the softie. "Really?" he managed to croak. He didn't want their apologies.
"Really?" he said again, his voice louder. "You want to say 'sorry'? What? 'Oh, Dex, we're so sorry for leaving you in your darkest moment, running away like cowards and leaving me with those- those..." Dex seemed to lose his voice.
He could never forget the first time his parents had screamed at him. Of course they'd shouted at him before but this, this was different. They'd full out lashed out at him. Telling him he'd never be good enough to (now I'm going to be honest, I was about to say 'legacy' but then the logical part of me was like 👀👀👀, so I decided against it) follow in their footsteps. What did the triplets do, you ask? They announced the next day that they were leaving. 'We're exploring the world' they'd said. Dex hadn't forgiven them since.
Before he knew it, Dex had tears in his eyes. The triplets walked towards Dex, about to hug him when he pulled away. He didn't want to see the amount of hurt on their faces so he continued to stare at the ground. "Don't, just don't," Dex sighed. "Look, I appreciate you guys coming, I really do, but I just need to be alone right now," (EMO DEX IS CANNONNNNNNN... and I'm not sure how I feel about it...) And with that, Dex went back inside, hoping to find some sort of shelter from the emotional turmoil he was going through right now.
Ok, ok, ok. I know what you're going to say and I agree with you. This entire chapter (chapter?!?! screw that this entire STORY) is giving Keefe Sencen vibes. I DID say that Dex would have strict parents in this story but I still feel like I copied Keefe's childhood a bit... welp, at least Dex doesn't have history with the neverseen 🤷♀️. But don't worry, their names aren't Kesler and Juline. Although they may come into the story at some point... or maybe not, you can never really know with my CRAZY imagination. But I hope you enjoyed this chapter, despite the minor (minor? omfg) trauma you might have experienced. All jokes aside, I do want to take this time to say... thank you so much for the 50 veiws! I know that doesn't sound like much, but I honestly didn't think anyone would read this so if you are reading this right now, I appreciate you so much!
Bye for now ;)
