"Okay, we need to ask the serious question here," Sophie told Dex seriously as they walked to her house. Dex frowned. "What?" Sophie cleared her throat. "Who's your crush?"
If Dex had been drinking something, he'd probably have spat it out. But then he'd probably get stabbed to death by Sophie for ruining her clothes, so it was probably he wasn't drinking something. "Seriously?" he asked. "That's what you want to know?" (spill. the. tea, sis) Sophie nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah, I mean, this is a serious thing to talk about. You guys are always having moments and-" Dex snorted. "Moments?" he repeated. Sophie gave him the most dramatic eye-roll in the world. "Uh, yeah! You two can't go an entire conversation without one of you - if not, both - blushing! Honestly, you guys might even be more oblivious than me!" Dex raised his eyebrows. "Like that's possible." Sophie nodded. "Yeah, you're right - that's just another thing I'm better at than you." Dex stuck his younger out at her. He got so lucky with his pick of cousins, didn't he? "But, all jokes aside, you obviously like Biana!" Dex made a sound that sounded strangely identical to the sound of a strangled goose.
He couldn't like Biana. Could he? I mean, sure, her voice sounds like songbirds and her smile lights up the whole room and she- No! He did not like her. Even if he did, she was way out of his league. She was the most amazing, beautiful, confident, sarcastic (aside from Keefe) funny, kind, understanding, welcoming person he knew! Wait... Dex couldn't help but notice how all those words came to his mind so easily. But friends think highly of each other all the time right? So that was all it was. Friends. With that thought in his mind, Dex couldn't help but be pulled away from it and think about all the times Biana had been there for him. One time, there'd been a group of kids who'd pinned Dex to the wall and bullied him. Dex probably could've taken one of them, but that was it. One. Definitely not all of them. Biana had come along and, out of nowhere, took one of her 8-inch heels off and flung them at one of the bully's head. The rest had run away, scared. (yes, fear the power of fashion) And of course there was the time she'd helped after the whole triplet thing. And at that time, he'd barely known her a week! She was just so incredible like that...
Oh no. Dex stopped walking with Sophie and froze. He didn't like Biana. He loved her!

"Oh, Dex! I'm so glad you could make it!" Edaline exclaimed when he came in. Dex. Nodded and smiled, not being able to speak. "Well, Dex, you and Sophie can go up to her room - our guests aren't here yet," Grady said, coming into the room. When Sophie and Dex came up to her room, Sophie looked at him with a knowing look. "So, was I right?" Dex nodded weakly and Sophie went full-fangirl-mode.
"Aaaaah! I knew it! You guys are gonna be so cute together!" Dex backed up. "Woah, woah, woah. Who said we were gonna be together?" Sophie rolled her eyes. "Seriously? Biana obviously likes you too!" Dex shook his head, causing it to almost fall off his body in the process. "What? She's way out of my league!" Sophie gave him a look that said seriously-how-are-we-related-you're-so-stupid. (... what? Looks can say a lot...ok, maybe not that much but they can still say something!) "Dex, Sophie, come down here please!" Edaline called from downstairs. "Coming, mom!" Sophie called back. Sophie turned to Dex. "We will continue this conversation later!" Sophie studied Dex's face and noticed the face he gave her. She glared at him. "What?" Dex smiled. "Nothing, you just... you called her 'mom'." Sophie went red. "Not in a bad way or anything!" Dex added quickly. "It's just nice to see that you guys can continue to be normal," Sophie laughed. "You are such a dork. Come on, let's go,"

"Dex, Sophie please meet our guests - Kesler and Juline Maxwell!" (yea... I just realised I couldn't call them 'dizznee' so I just had to come up with a random name for them, sorry it's really bad XD XD) They both gave them a shy wave and the couple returned them with beaming smiles. "Come, come! Sit down, the foods all ready!" They all sat down.
During the conversation, Dex found out that they knew Edaline and Grady because they went to college together. They seemed like nice people and Dex found himself talking to them way more than he thought he would - they just seemed so easy to talk too. So fun, and the live-in-the-moment type. And Dex found himself a bit sad when they said they had to go.
"Bye, kiddo." Kesler told Dex, ruffling his hair. "We hope to see you soon!" Juline called as they walked out of the front door. Dex couldn't stop himself from smiling as he whispered. "Hope to see you, too."
Yeah, I know. This was a bit of a boring chapter but it will be worth it I promise. I just needed to introduce Kesler and Juline into the book and get Dex to realise his feelings for Biana. (yay! he's not as oblivious as Sophie!) I also promised myself to not do this anymore but... OMG TYSM FOR THE 300 VOTES! Seriously, the number just keeps getting bigger <3
IMPORTANT A/N
Also, I want to make a quick amendment to Dex's parents: in this book, they aren't going to be shouting at him and stuff, just cold, distant and not showing affection.
So, to make this chapter less boring, I have more quotes! But I can't hold a pen! (Aggressive sobbing)
