It was the next day. Really bright and sunny outside for a Dark Island, but then again, Ninjago City was now covered in darkness. We were watching all this happen at the shoreline. All I could do was sit down next to my brother while Dr. Julien wrapped Lloyd's leg in some bandages he used for my arm. Everyone's morals were down, mostly the blondie's one.
"Can I still fight?" Lloyd asked, which drew me away from my thoughts. I looked over my shoulder, traveling my gaze up to the inventor next to him.
The white-haired man hummed and shook his head. "I'm sorry. That leg will take weeks to heal."
"We don't have weeks." Lloyd retorted, furrowing his brows. The doctor shook his head again and went back to wrapping Lloyd's leg. He groaned from the pain.
"The battle between good and evil will be decided today." Sensei Wu spoke up, stroking his beard as he stared forward with a worried glimpse in his eyes.
Kai groaned, removing himself from the ground and getting back up on his feet, irritated. "And we can't even get to the fight, much less get off the island." He raised his voice, grabbing a random pebble before throwing it in the water.
I heard Jay let out a sigh, moving his head to rest it on my shoulder as he remained careful to not touch the bandage that my arm had. "I wonder if I'll ever see Nya again."
Zane placed a hand on his back as a gesture to bring the slightest amount of comfort. "Perhaps it's best to think of our friends as we remember them in our hearts, not as they are now."
Grunts were being heard as Lloyd struggled to join us, but with the help of Zane's father, he was able to assemble with us. "But I don't remember my father any other way."
"Your father loved you." Misako turned to her son, taking a step forward. In the past tense? Wow, what a great start. "It was the evil of the Great Devourer that corrupted him."
"Sensei, I don't understand. The prophecy said the Green Ninja would defeat the Dark Lord." Kai said, groaning with anger and then proceeding to throw a rock into the ocean. The pebble skipped a few times over the water before finally sinking while the ripples moved away from where the rock sank. He sighed while furrowing his brows and pointing to Ninjago. "Why didn't we win?"
"I... don't know." Sensei confessed while dropping his head and closing his eyes. My face dropped into a frown as I felt my brother shift from beside me.
"Don't know? You're Sensei! You always know. You have a long white beard!" Jay exclaimed with some humor behind his words.
"There must be some message to learn. A lesson. A word of wisdom. Just a word? Something." Kai told him desperately with a slim of hope in his eyes.
