During the break, Aaron was on the phone with M.

"How did it go, Aaron?"

"She hired a small high street solicitor, but they are superb. She does not want to divide all marital assets, but she just wants the house."

"M,. My assets and pension, everything will be way more than the house, so why not just give it to her?"

"What is Judge Harriet doing? We can't give her what she wants."

"Why is it so important to you darling?"

"I want to see her lose."

"Judge Harriet is in a tough spot. I did not know what happened to him. We still have room for negotiation before the final decision."

"Do anything but just don't give her the house."

Just then, Aaron's lawyer called him and they discussed it further.

"Dr it is better that we offer Ms Heather a deal. I am sure that she came fully prepared. All the properties, shares, and anything you bought during the duration of your marriage will be split 50/50 between the two of you".

"The House is worth 20 Million and all the assets which she knows are worth another 10 Million, including pension and everything. She is not aware of my other investments, and she can't prove it as they are all in my brother's name."

"In that case, we will offer her 15 million and propose that if she just wants the house, she can buy your share of the house. Do you think she can manage 10 million to buy you out?"

"No,. She cant "

********************************************************************

Kirsty Heather's lawyer came to Heather to discuss the offer that Aarons's solicitor proposed.

"You know what, as soon as I saw Jude Harriet I was shocked and straight away contacted my seniors. He already had complaints. His every move would be observed. That old bastard will be very careful and look at the deal Aaron solicitors proposed".

Heather looked at the paper.

"He is a bastard, Kisty. His Assets are way more than 50 Million".

"The thing is, it is difficult to prove that. He is so clever that he has put the funds in his brother's company. We can try, but it's difficult to prove."

"It is his company and his brothers have a share in it."

"Well, that is what he might have told you earlier, but clearly, he is not listed as the company's director, and he dissolved his limited company nearly 15 months ago citing a massive loss."

Aaron has a limited company where he does his private work in collaboration with his brother's brother's pharmaceutical business. When he started his affair with Marissa, he dissolved his company and declared it bankrupt. He was determined to marry Marrisa and started planning a while back.

Nicki suddenly got a call from her friend and she interrupted "Heather, he is with your step-sister Marissa."

Heather's world came crashing down. She never in her dreams guessed that it would be her step-sister Marrisa.

"She is 17 years younger than him, and she was married"

Nicki held her hands." This is your bad time and things will change. Compose yourself"

"Elisa's presence makes the scene now" Heather was a strong woman. But sometimes even a strong person is shattered. She just looked at the pictures of her son and daughter on the phone.

"I will accept the offer," she said to her Solicitor.

Her solicitor and barrister were in deep discussions and were stunned.

"Heather, please do not make a haste decision, we will work things out and get you the best deal."

"I just want the trust funds which my children had in their name to be secured and Aaron and Marissa to have no say in it."

Aaron and Heather had set up trust funds for their children to revive at the age of 21, and now they were worth millions. She wanted to secure her children's future.

"Don't worry, I will get a better deal" her barrister assured her.

The solicitors from both sides discussed it, and it was Aaron. He offered Heather 17 million and that trust funds were under Heather's control."

The papers were exchanged, and all Heather had to do was wait for everything to be processed, which would take months.

"Why did you suddenly give up on the house?" Nicki asked.

"When you said that he was with Marissa, then I lost interest in the house. Everything will remind me of Aaron and his betrayal. I do not wish to see him ever again."

"He is your children's father and you cannot avoid him.

"My children are adults now. I thank god for that."

"Are you alright," Nicki asked her.

"Yes, I am and please can you help me pack my things up" She replied with a broken smile, wiping the corners of her eyes.

When they walked out of court, Aaron saw Heather and walked up to her.

"Heather, I am sorry."

"I will ask you for one last thing, Aaron," Heather said to him, looking straight into his eyes.

"Please do not show me your face ever again and have a happy life with Marissa" She then just walked away.

Heather wanted to scream at him for ruining her life. If they divorced when they were in their 20s at least she would have started with someone who deserved her. She cursed herself for being so immature and ignorant. Her foolish dream of a happy family made her completely dependent on Aaron. Looking back, everything was her fault. She was so vulnerable growing up with her toxic family. Stepmother who physically abused her for little things. She remembered she was so afraid to go out and live by herself after she was sexually assaulted in school. Luckily, she did not lose her chastity. It was just groping, but it left a lasting impact on her and her confidence, which was shattered, and the irony was she had no one to share this with anyone.

She was lucky that she changed schools after just a week because Lisa wanted her daughters to go to a top school and her father enrolled her along with her sisters. She thought suffering at the hands of Lisa was far better than the wolves outside. She remembered when Aaron's mother wished that she would marry her son. She agreed without hesitation. She would have married any donkey who would have given her protection.

That was the reason she was very protective of her children. She picked and dropped them off from school and was very attentive towards them. Her children were not like her, but they were strong and determined with positive attitudes, and they did very well academically. When her son was selected for a scholarship at an elite medical school, she felt her handwork paid off.

She walked back to her home. She negotiated that she would leave the house after two months once Aaron transferred the money to her account. She couldn't thank Nicky enough for being her support in these difficult times.

When she came back home, reality stung her hard. She cried all she could. She was now a fat 41-year-old divorced woman.
