Eric began walking over to the wind area, dreading seeing Will again and wondering how many wind elementists there were. He walked through the door and saw at least twelve people. Counting prove his original estimate correct, there were twelve people. He had just shut the door when an alarm went off.
Will flew up.
"Ok, y'all know the drill."
Every body but Eric instantly zoomed up, leaving Eric thirty feet behind before he started to fly up. He tried, but could match their speed at best, and not go fast enough to catch up.
A girl who looked about ten looked down and noticed him, then flicked her hand so that the wind blowing him up doubled its strength so that he floated up to the same level as the group, from which point he could keep up on his own.
"Hi!" Said the girl cheerfully.
"I'm Mariana!"
It took a minute before Eric recognized her as the girl who had been playing push-a-war on his first day there- the day he had broken his legs.
Eric nodded a response, realizing he was really tired from keeping up with the group. As he started to fall behind, another wind elementist floated to his level and helped him keep up.
"I'm Chris." He said.
"Eric." Eric said, responding to both Marina and Chris.
"How much longer do we have to do this?"
Both laughed.Up, up, up.
Up, up, up.
Were they even in the troposphere anymore? Eric tried to conjure the wind to keep up, but he would have been falling out of the sky (if they were still within the gravitational field) if Marina and Chris weren't helping him. The two insisted he wasn't to much of a burden, but he could see both were beginning to tire. Ok, so they were still in the gravitational field, but they were at least sixty miles from the ground.
Up, up, up.
Up, up, up.
The majority of the group was beginning to tire, and Marina and Chris both looked exhausted. Eric knew he had to start flying himself, but he was still exhausted from before. And if he could flying by himself, Chris and Marina would probably remain in the sky ten seconds longer before losing any trace of a grasp on consciousness. If that happened, Eric MIGHT be able to slow their fall. On the bright side, they were so high up the two might wake up before they hit the ground, as it would take about thirty minutes to fall that far.
Up, up, up.
"That's high enough for today."
"GOOD." said Lizzie.
Chris mumbled something and Eric wasn't sure if Marina was even awake. There were murmurs of agreement throughout the group.
Lizzie, who was apparently Marina's friend, had been carrying Chris, Eric, and Marina for the past couple miles or so, and she was apparently strong enough to do this and only show mild signs of tiring.
"Ok, partner up." Said Will.
"Marina!" Said Lizzie immediately.
Eric turned to Chris, just as he heard
"Chris!" He turned to see John, whom Chris had pointed out to him earlier. Chris gave an apologetic smile.
Eric looked around to find everyone standing next to someone else. Lizzie stopped holding him up, so he fell about two feet before recovering himself.
"Eric,"
He turned. Will.
Realizing it was his only choice, Eric flew over to Will.
"Ok, so today, I think we should do some fall practice."
Everybody started falling, and Eric followed a second behind.
