A Fear of hieghts

Ellie was headed outside. Wait- why was Ellie headed outside? As far as Eric could tell, everything except wind elementist training took place inside the giant cylinder. He went outside to find Will sitting against the wall with a match book in one hand and a small collection of sticks in the other. Ellie watched as Will lit the tip of one of the sticks on fire and watched gleefully as the flame traveled down the stick. Ellie went over and sat down next to him. A conversation began.
Eric went over, sat down, and asked what they were talking about.
Just then, someone called out.
"Will!!!!!!!" And Will got up to leave. As he walked away Eric gave him a angry glare, which apparently Ellie noticed.
"Why don't you just forgive him now? I mean, think about it. Anger always fades. Why not save some time out of your life and forgive him now?"
What is it with these people and saying questions like statements? 
"Sure. Anyways, don't ya just hate it  here?"
"What do you want?"
Another question statement.
"For you to want to leave."
"Why?"
"Because I told Hailey if she gave me info I would convince you to leave."
"Good luck."
Then Eric got an idea.
"Are you afraid of heights?"

Eric's plan would have been genius...... If Ellie wasn't a rock elementist. His idea was simple: use wind to levitate Ellie thirty feet above the ground until she decided to agree to leave, possible with a couple threats of dropping her. However, as previously mentioned, Ellie was a rock elementist. She  built a ball of solid rock around herself, than expanded it, making herself as heavy as possible. On top of this, the ground seemed to be trying to draw her back like magnet. But, after almost an hour of pure exhausting work for Eric, Ellie gave up and agreed she'd leave with Hailey AND convince Hailey to let Eric tag along. That's when Hailey stepped out from behind a bush and told Eric she'd been following him since she noticed him following Ellie. A conversation began.
"Why was that so hard?" Asked Eric.
"You haven't noticed? Think about it. With all the people here, how come we are the only ones who have ever conversed about escape? No, everybody loves it here. All but you and Will. Will, who hates his element, and you, who is a very weak elementist. That's the pattern. Once the people here become loyal to their element, they become loyal to Cade Plisk." Answered Hailey.
"Also, I think if we all want to escape," with a look at Ellie "we should ask Will for help."
Eric decided to ignore that last part.
"Ok, but what's the Plan with Leah and John?"
"Why should I tell you?"
There was a pause.
"Do you have a fear of heights?"
