CLARITY YVONNE BANEZ'S POV
It is Monday today and guess what it is already the day of the quiz bee competition I have prepared for days. I hope I win this one.
"Hey Vonne, ready ka na?" My friend Ricky asked me, by the way, he is also the SSG president of our school and they are the ones holding up the competition.
"Oo naman last week pa" I excitedly said to him, Hindi na ko makapaghintay na ipakita yung talino ko.
Oh Diba, Bida Bida talaga
Pagkatapos naming mag usap sabay na kaming pumunta sa gaganapan ng quiz bee.
I place myself at the back of the row because I am a fourth-year student and all the first year students are seated at the front.
The first round consists of only two questions picked by the host. You have to answer the question to go to the next round which is the elimination round.
After a few minutes of asking the first-year to third-year students, it was finally my turn.
"OK, the category is grade 10 science so, what are the two em (electromagnetic)waves that lie at both ends of the visible spectrum?" The host asked and repeated the question one more time and then gave me a choice.
A. Radio waves and gamma rays
B. Microwave and infrared
C. Infrared and X-ray
D. Infrared and ultra-violet(UV)
I smiled and confidently answered "Letter D" The host clapped indicating that my answer was right.
After the qualifying round, there will be a short break before we proceed to the elimination round.
I stepped outside the room and went to the cafeteria to buy a drink.
"Galing talaga, hanga na 'ko sayo kaya crush kita eh" Nagulat ako ng biglang may sumulpot sa tabi ko.
"Bwiset ka nagulat ako sayo, bakit nandito ka pa?" Hinampas ko ito sa balikat dahil sa gulat.
"Syempre para suportahan ka ng pogi mong crush, kawawa ka kasi walang supporter" Kinindatan nya pa ko habang sinasabi yung mga salitang yon
"For your information wala akong crush sayo ikaw kaya may gusto sa'kin" Pairap kong sagot.
"Oo na, tara alam kong uhaw ka na" Hinila na ako nito at binilhan ng tubig. Sabay na rin kaming naglakad pabalik sa classroom kung saan ginaganap yung quiz bee, sadly bawal pumasok ang hindi participant.
"Sige na pasok ka na hintayin kita dito" Nakangiti nalang nitong wika sakin habang papasok ako sa loob ng classroom.
"Oyy lim dito ka pala, tara pasok ka may upuan don sa tabi" biglang sulpot ni Ricky sa likod ko
I looked at Zeus and nodded at him, he understood what I meant and sabay na kaming pumasok sa loob. Umupo siya sa tabi ni Ricky and I settled myself near them.
"Ok ka lang?" Bigla nitong tanong sa'kin malapit lang naman ako sa kanila kaya nakakapag usap kami.
"Yeah, I'm just a little bit nervous" I softly replied to him. He gave me a gentle look.
"I know na kaya mong ipanalo 'to wala ka dapat ika kakaba Jan Kaya relax ka lang" Sa simpleng mga salita nya lang guminhawa na ulit yung pakiramdam ko.
I will rock this competition and win the medal and certificate.
The next round started and the students who will go up against each other will be chosen from a roulette, also they will go up against their year level meaning if I'm a grade 10 student then I will go up against another grade 10 student.
Fast forward, it is now the grade 10 turn to the elimination round. But unlike earlier I am not so nervous now.
I forgot to add that when you know the answer you have to push a buzzer and it is also a race to two points.

I stepped forward to go to our respective places.
"Go Clarity, kaya mo yan" natawa ako bigla ng sumigaw si Zeus. Hinampas sya si Ricky dahil sa ingay nito, napailing nalang ako sa mga pinag gagagawa nya. Crazy man.
"Ok, are you ready? The category is general knowledge and no choices will be given, what is the biggest company in South Korea?"
I immediately pressed the buzzer to answer " Samsung" I simply said and smiled.
"Correct, next question category Greek mythology. Who is considered the king of Olympus?" I pressed the buzzer but my opponent pressed the buzzer faster "Zeus" she smiled wickedly and looked at Zeus.
I don't know what happened to me but I suddenly felt irritated and just wanted to end the game.
"Ok tie breaker, category science. According to the law of plane mirrors, the normal, the incident and reflected rays all lie on the same blank?" My opponent stopped in her tracks.
I smiled at her mockingly just like what she did to me earlier trying to intimidate me. I pressed the buzzer and answered "The normal, the incident, and the reflected ray all lie on the same PLANE" I said full of confidence.
"Ok congratulations Miss Bañez you may proceed to the next round, congratulations also Miss Legaspi" I just smiled and walked back to my seat.
"You're amazing there," Zeus said as I got closer to them, I smiled and thanked him.
"Naks naman baka friend ko yan" nakatawang sabi ni Ricky nag appir na lang kami nito at umupo na ko sa aking upuan.
Pagkatapos ng lahat ng grade 10 students. Nag announce na ang semi final will take place 3 days from now, dahil anong oras na at baka abutan pa ng dilim ang nga students.
Nagpaalam muna ako kina Ricky and other SSG officers. Sabay na kaming naglakad ni Zeus habang dala nya Ang bag ko.
"Anyway I noticed earlier that girl seems to know you?" I asked Zeus about that girl Rose earlier. Napatingin ito sakin bago sumagot
"Yun ba parang familiar nga sa'kin yung mukha kaso hindi ko talaga siya kilala" I just nodded in response.
"Selos ka 'no" he teasingly said to me
Tinulak ko sya "No way, why would I? As if naman may karapatan ako remember Hindi naman tayo"
He suddenly fell silent, I thought I said something that made him feel bad. I was about to take back my words when he spoke. "I want to court you Clarity" he seriously said without taking his eyes off me, it felt like I was drowning because of the overflowing emotions in his eyes.
I felt like crying because of how genuine he is to me. Never in my life have I felt this way. It is so painfully good it makes me feel like forever is just right in front of me.
"Will you let me court you?" He speaks again after the long silence between us.
I don't know what to say, I want to say yes but I am afraid of how my parents would react if I say this to them.
"Sorry before you answer that I have something to do"
"What is it?" I am confused by how fast he takes his words back.
"I still have to ask your parents' permission, I haven't even met them yet. O my gosh I hope they're not gonna be mad at me if I introduce myself now" I wanted to laugh at how he reacted about the situation.
I took his arms and led him to our home.
