Yvonne's pov
"Here let me help you" Shine took the lipstick out of my hands because my hands were shaking uncontrollably.
I don't know what happening to me or maybe I'm just too nervous to be around some rich people. I mean I've never attended a party like this so it may be natural for me to act this way.
"It's gonna be fine Vonne, you look great besides after this party we will go to a house party near the campus," Shine said while putting the lipstick on me. I looked at her confused, as far as I knew, she had never mentioned anything about going to a house party.
"Oh, I didn't tell you, my bad. Well, I met this gal last Monday after I got here and we kind of just hit it off and became friends, and then just earlier she invited me to come to her house party" I nodded at her and looked at the mirror in front of me then take a deep breath.
Ok Vonne calm down, you will just be there to say thank you to the kind-hearted people who allowed you to study here.
I walk towards my cabinet to get the necklace that Zeus gave me. I wore it and looked in at the mirror again, It's beautiful. Im beautiful.
I've never thought of seeing myself in such a fancy simple dress. I usually just wore casual clothes even at formal parties but now it's different.
Shine placed herself behind me and put her chin on my shoulder while looking at each other's reflection in the mirror. We looked so beautiful.
"Let's go?" I reached Shine's hands and we stepped out of our room to go to the main hall where the party was gonna be held up.
I can already hear the soft music coming inside the main hall. I see a lot of fancy cars parked just outside, it's no denying that the people inside that place are all big-time rich.
We entered the hall with the feeling of nervousness and excitement at the same time, thanks to Shine who helped me relax while were walking I was able to calm myself down.
"Good evening Miss Shine and Miss Yvonne. Please follow me I'll take you to your assigned table" The man Timothy approached us on the side and led the way to our table.
"How Tim!! How have you been?" Shine's eyes glow while looking at Timothy who is just walking casually. Maybe Shine has a crush on him.
"I'm fine Miss Shine, thank you" Timothy replied with his frozen-like voice, para syang robot.
"Just call me Shine, how many times should I tell you that" Shine pouted and walked faster to catch up with Timothy, ang galing iniwan pa nga ako.
We settled on our table
"The Ellington's will be here shortly" Timothy turned his back on us and walked towards the entrance probably to wait for the Ellington's.
"Have you met them already?" I ask Shine who is still looking at Timothy with her puppy eyes.
"I don't understand that guy, he's like a robot" She didn't mind my question and talked about Timothy instead. I shook my head and looked around the place.
Fancy light surrounds the whole place, the buffet table with lots of delicious-looking foods, and the people who are talking with each other, most likely their talking about business.
"Where is Maison, Timothy?" I looked at the woman who was walking gracefully towards us. Her voice is soft it's almost like she's singing a lullaby.
"I haven't heard from him since last night ma'am" Timothy helped the lady sit down while answering her question. The woman's forehead furrowed.
"Ok thank you, Timothy, you can enjoy the night" Timothy bowed his head before sitting on the chair next to Shine who was looking at him.
I want to sigh because of Shine's behavior she didn't even mind the woman who came here.
"Good evening ma'am," I said to the woman trying to initiate a conversation with her. Siguro sya yung nagbigay ng scholarship samin kasi obvious naman eh.
The woman looked at me with her beautiful black eyes and long lashes. "Hi hon, are you perhaps one of my husband's scholars this year?" She asked me with her soft voice.
This woman looked like she was just in her late 20s with her small nose and heart-shaped lips, parang mas maganda pa sya sakin.
"Ahm I guess po," I said with a low voice while looking at her, she nodded her head and smiled at me. I flinched when she reached for my hands.
"You don't have to be nervous dear, I don't bite" The assurance in her voice made my guard down. I feel safe with her, she just has this kind of aura that will surely make you feel comfortable.
"Haha it's not like that po, I'm just really shy," I said while blushing, her hands felt so soft hehe.
"Oh don't be dear, just be who you are in front of us" She patted my hands when suddenly a tall man with blue eyes came towards us.
"Hey sorry for the interruption" The man laughed and kissed the woman in her cheeks before sitting down.
"Good evening po" I greeted him with admiration in my eyes, required ba na lahat ng tao dito sa America ay magaganda at gwapo. Di manlang ako nainform.
"Honey she uses po!" The man excitedly wiggled his wife's arms looking like a little kid who saw his favorite toys.
"Yeah, I know hon, she's from the Philippines" The woman took her husband's hand and held it.
"I forgot to introduce myself my name is Katarina Ellington and this is my husband, Raven Ellington," Mrs. Ellington said to me.
"Ah, I'm Clarity Yvonne Bañez po" I put my hands on my chest and introduced myself to them.
"Ang ganda ng pangalan mo" My eyes twinkled with her remarks, marunong sya magtagalog.
"Pilipino po kayo?" pagtatanong ko sakanya kahit obvious naman. She laughed and nodded at me.
"Yeah, and I'm the one who chose you to be a scholar of my husband's company. My brother, your teacher recommended you to me saying that you are one remarkable student." I blushed at her compliments, grabe naman si Mr. Castillo sabi nya isang teacher ang nagrecommend sakin yun pala sya yung teacher na yun.
"Thank you po sa opportunity na binigay nyo sakin. Promise po pagbubutihan ko ang pag aaral ko at susuklian ko lahat ng tulong nyo sakin." I said with teary eyes, gusto ko maiyak kaso yung make up sayang may pupuntahan pa kami mamaya ni Shine.
"Your welcome dear and besides I already know that you will do your best. My brother wouldn't recommend you if he knew that you would just be wasting this opportunity." She held my hands once again but this time tighter. Bigla kong naalala si mama sakanya kaya hindi ko na napigilan na yakapin sya.
Mahigpit akong yumakap sakanya habang dinarama ang mainit na yakap ng isang ina sa kanyang anak. Kahit hindi sya si mama yung yakap na nararamdaman ko ay sapat na para maibsan ang mga pangungulila ko kay mama.
"Sorry po, nakikita ko lang po si mama sainyo" I broke away from the hug. Mr. Ellington is looking at us with his teary eyes, napatawa ako dahil sa aking nakita dinaig nya pa ko.
"You're so sweet, my son would never" Mr. Ellington scoffed and rolled his eyes. Mrs. Ellington punched him lightly on the shoulder.
"You two are just the same. Parehas kayong OA" Tumingin si Mr. Ellington samin, confused is written all over his face.
"What's OA?" He said, naalala ko tuloy si Shine, and speaking of Shine magkausap sila ngayon ni Timothy, I don't know kung magkausap nga ba kasi sya lang yung nagsasalita.
Back to Mr. Ellington "OA stands for over attractive. You look so handsome my husband" Mrs. Ellington pinched his cheeks before looking at me.
Parehas nalang kaming napatawa. Nakatingin si Mr. Ellington samin habang nakanguso. "You're bluffing" He rolled his eyes at us and folded his arms.
Nag apir kami ni Mrs. Ellington bago nya suyuin ang kanyang asawa. OA nga talaga si Mr. Ellington.
