It's been about- 3 weeks since they've begun training nonstop. Nevertheless, she didn't have time to think about time. Luminara quickly parries against Umbra's sword, the metal cling rang out loud.
"How long do you think we can keep this up?" Umbra panted.
"Your tired? Interesting how you said 'we', I can do this for a straight year" Luminara chuckled, only to gasp for the air she forgot to breathe.
"Yeah-" Umbra's voice was cut out.
Luminara collapses, her energy had officially ended.
"-No" Umbra continued, his voice skeptical. He crouched down beside her body, about to pull off her badge.
"Over my dead body-" Luminara coughed, kicking at Umbra's stomach and grabbing his badge instead. "Awww! Just when I thought I could win you do a fake-out?! That's like- so- so fake! Especially since you- Auuuuggh!!" Umbra grumbled.
The badges were little tokens Ravewyn gave us, she told us to duel until one of us had both of our badges, and that person would win. They had been doing this for one round, which took up 9 days. The other 12 days it was basic punching bags and robots.
Luminara sighed, lying back down on the ground, Umbra laid down beside her, mumbling about chicken recipes.
"Man a rotisserie chicken would be so good right now-" Umbra mumbled.
"Shut up about your chicken and listen" A familiar voice croaked. Luminara pulled herself up to a criss-cross seating position, eyeing Ravewyn.
Ravewyn seemed to be on a sick-day, wearing unicorn patterned pajamas, her voice raspy and she would cough constantly whenever she spoke, a wet towel was placed upon her forehead, a thermometer stuck in her mouth like a lollipop.
"What happened?" Luminara asked, standing up and removing the towel, she placed the back of her hand on top of Ravewyn's forehead, only to yelp and back away a second later. "IT'S BURNING- LITERALLY" Luminara cried. "That's what my brother said anyways" Ravewyn sighed, grabbing the towel from Luminara and returning it to her forehead.
"I feel like it's time I taught you how to channel elemental power" Ravewyn coughed. "Huh? I already know how to do that though?" Umbra said.
"No you don't." Ravewyn said bluntly. "You just have a mental connection with shadows, it's not built into your system like Luminara's solar power, it's moreover earned through your-"
"Okay! I- I get it now thanks sooo much Ravewyn" Umbra interrupted, a sheepish smile played on his face. "Elemental power is going to be your ace in the hole. I'll start off with a demonstration" Ravewyn said, holding her hand out on the ground, beckoning them down to sit alongside them. Suddenly, a summoning circle appeared below her hand, it began to glow green, and then exploded with greek fire.
"Woah there!! We aren't trying to fry anybody yet!!" A male voice called out, and suddenly what felt like a geyser shot at them, extinguishing the flames.
"I was giving the beginners a demonstration, Lapis" Ravewyn grumbled. The water man, whom Luminara assumed was Lapis, came and sat down right beside Ravewyn. Lapis's appearance was striking, a fusion of aquatic elegance and human grace. His physique was lean yet powerful, sculpted from years of navigating the depths of the ocean. His skin bore a unique pattern, reminiscent of the rippling waves of the sea, with hues of lapis lazuli and tanned peach that danced across his form in patterns similar to the vitiligo skin-tone. The faint shimmer of scales adorned his arms and legs, catching the light in iridescent flashes that spoke of his affinity with water.
His face was angular yet softened by an air of tranquility, framed by strands of navy blue hair that cascaded like a waterfall down his back. His eyes, a piercing silver, held a depth of wisdom and compassion that seemed to mirror the vastness of the ocean itself. A subtle hint of a smile played upon his lips, adding to the aura of calm confidence that surrounded him.
