"A mission? Oh so exciting!" Lapis said as he sent small rivers of water floating throughout the ruins, which quickly returned back to him holding a teacup and a pot.
"LAPIS!! WHAT DID YOU DO WITH MY MORNING TEA?!" Ravewyn's distant voice shouted. "Who? Me?" Lapis asked. "Oh my god-"Ravewyn grumbled, running from the tunnel and into the training rooms where Umbra and Luminara had explained the mission.
"Oh it's you two- hey!" Ravewyn said, as she struggled to get her tea back from Lapis. "You seem healthier" Luminara said, noticing the absence of coughing and raspiness. Ravewyn nodded happily, her mood seemed boosted since she recovered.
"Oxilyse probably wants us to pack up soon, so let's get to it!" Lapis suggested. "Oh- Um- Only pack the necessities!" Ravewyn added. Umbra pulled Luminara aside, leading her to the chamber they took in when they came. They didn't really spend much time in here because the room was just two stones beside a glass table, and a two-person bed, which they didn't use.
Well, more of Luminara avoiding the bed and Umbra hoarding the large bed for himself, saying that he was only 'using the opportunity he had'.
"So... What do you want?" Luminara asked. She looked around the room, Umbra had suddenly disappeared. Luminara sighed and sat down on one of the stones placed in the room. "Umbra- wherever you're hiding, just come out now" Luminara called out, met with no reply.
"This isn't funny!" Luminara called out again.
Silence.
At this point Luminara was beginning to worry.
"Umbra?!" She panicked, looking around the area. Luminara heard somebody exhale, the sound of laughter seeping into the room, echoing. The shadows seemed to gather themselves to form another entity, leaning forwards at her, with what she thought were arms held behind their back. The shadow substance shedded, like water; and then there was Umbra, grinning at her.
"So you do care for me!" Umbra beamed. Luminara sighed, fixing her composure. "Of course I care for you, what kind of a question is that?" Luminara said exasperatedly. Umbra was grinning ear to ear, and Luminara was questioning if she said the right thing or not. Umbra brought out his wings, elevating them. He turned around, his left wing scooping her up.
"Um- personal space, Umbra- personal space" Luminara stammered. Umbra chuckled, resting his hand on her shoulder. He turns around to face her eye-to-eye, still grinning. His hand slides down her arm to hold her hand, bringing it up to shoulder-height. He retracts his palm, but keeps his fingertips touching hers.
A faint humming sound was heard, and within their palms a mix of light and shadow began to form. Luminara struggled to stop this, unable to stop her solar power from seeping out. "Don't fight it" Umbra whispered, the serious look returning to his eyes, paired with the sly grin, and at this point Luminara was well over willing to punch him.
Rivers of yellow and purple began to form around their hands, light and fairy-like, dancing around them. It reminded her of the aurora borealis, in a worrying way-
What's going on?!
Why is this happening??
His wings wrapped around them like a large dark cocoon, as more of her solar power seeped out uncontrollably like gushing blood from a large scar. She felt her head get lighter, and lighter, until eventually she collapses, and everything falls apart like a million piece puzzle falling to the ground.
None of the pieces ever fit.
The last thing she saw was Umbra's worried expression, his eyes, obsidian black with a single white circle in the middle that broke off into smaller white cracks similar to lightning, that stared back at her in wonder, care, an-
