Annkoto - Chapter 10: Carmen! Johanna!

(SMS)
Ryuji: "So are we headed to Mementos today?"
Ren: "We should."
Yusuke: "Understood. When shall we meet at the hideout?"
Ren: "Right after school, if that's okay."
Ryuji: "Sounds good to me."

It has been 2 days since the moment that ruptured Ann and Makoto's bond, now it's July 6th.

Yusuke: "Are Ann and Makoto joining us?"
Makoto: "I am."
Ann: "Mhm."

School was the same as ever that day. Since he sits behind Ann, Ren could definitely notice that something was wrong. It was the same as yesterday. Her posture wasn't the normal laid back look she had. It was much more of a depressed, head down type of look. The teacher called on her and she didn't even flinch. They assumed she was asleep but her eyes were open, deep in thought.

The final period ends, and Ren walks out of the classroom to greet Ryuji.

Ryuji: "Ain't there something weird going on with Ann and Makoto?"

Ren: "They may have had a falling out."

Ryuji: "That's a shame... Y'know, me and Ann went to the gym last Sunday."

Ren: "Did you?"

Ryuji: "Yeah, she was wantin' to get in shape for her modeling I guess."

Ren: "Makoto told me about that."

Ryuji: "Huh, maybe she's the reason Ann wanted to do that. Anyway, Ann totally broke down after our session. She was really bummed out about this thing that happened over at Makoto's house."

Ren: "Makoto was the same way when she told me about it."

Ryuji: "Shit, things must be real awkward between 'em. I still don't really understand it but... sounds like it sucks."

Ren: "It seems I know just a bit more than you do."

Ryuji: "Hey man not cool, c'mon spill the beans already."

Ren: "Don't worry, I think you'll know by the end of today."

Ryuji: "You're probably right, something's bound to snap in that cramped up Mona car."

Morgana peeks his head out of Ren's bag, yawning.

Morgana: "What was that about me? You better not be up to anything Ryuji."

Ryuji: "I don't think it's gonna be me causing trouble this time cat, Ann has-"

Morgana: "Lady Ann would do no such thing!"

Ann walks up behind them. Her footsteps hold no weight, as if her soul is trying to leave her body.

Ann (murmuring): "Hideout?"

Ryuji: "Uhhh yeah! Sounds good!"

...

Yusuke: "What happened??"

Ryuji: "They look a lot worse than I thought."

The Phantom Thieves are at the Mementos entrance. Ann and Makoto and standing at least 10 feet apart from each other. The color is drained from their faces, they don't look present in the moment at all.

Morgana: "Alright Team, we have 3 requests on the second floor, and one on the third. Hey Joker, what's your call? Our current front line since we destroyed Kaneshiro's palace is you, Skull, Panther and Queen."

Ren looks at Ann and Makoto: "Are you two okay with that, we can switch you out for Fox and Mona if you would like."

They both think about having to be left alone together while the boys fight.
