Annkoto - Chapter 20: That Much Sweeter

Makoto: "Today's the day."

It's Saturday, August 6th. Makoto is getting ready for her date night with Ann.

Makoto: (I hope Ann will like my outfit.)

She bought a semi-formal outfit for the occasion, a more masculine one at that. The outfit consisted of brown dress pants, and a black button up involving a white tie and a tan-ish coat. Did she go a bit overboard? Maybe.

Makoto steps out of her room: "Bye Sis, I'm headed out!"

Sae looks down and then up at her outfit: "Interesting."

Makoto stops: "Wh- What do you mean by 'interesting'?"

Sae: "I have never seen you wear an outfit like that."

Makoto: "Does it look bad?"

Sae: "No, it suits you. I won't ask what you're up to but don't come home late tonight."

Makoto: "Understood, thank you Sis."

That was their first slightly pleasant interaction in a long while. Makoto starts walking towards that train station heading to Shibuya.
Ann was also on her way to Shibuya. Like Makoto, she also made herself look extra nice for tonight. She wore a drop waist dress that had an asymmetrical bodice (the chest holder of a dress). She wore her hair down, since Makoto liked it so much, and excellently applied makeup.
Both Makoto and Ann were on the edge of formal wear, when business-casual was appropriate at this restaurant.

Makoto approached the restaurant first. The place was named "Mogano's", it seemed to be Italian. A thought rushed into Makoto's mind, she imagined her and Ann sharing spaghetti, accidentally meeting in the middle of one noodle and sharing a kiss, something you'd see in cliche romance movies. Even if she wasn't the biggest spaghetti pasta fan, she really liked the idea of it (probably just the kissing part).
She sat down on the bench at the front of the restaurant, waiting for Ann. After five minutes she decided to text Ann to see if she was okay, but as soon as she took her phone out, Ann calls out to her.

Ann: "Makoto-senpai!"

Makoto stands up and Ann instantly hugs her.

As Ann lets go Makoto gets a closer look at her dress: "Ann... you're stunning!"

Ann: "W- Well I could say the same for you! Wow you look so hot in dress pants..."

Makoto blushes and turns her head, embarrassed: "What did you say? H- Hot?"

Ann: "Oh! Uhm sorry that came out of nowhere didn't it. We should get to our table!"
She turns to the host at the entrance.

Makoto: (She's too cute for her own good.)

Makoto holds open the door for Ann.
Ann: "How gentlemanly~"

Makoto: "It's the least I could do, since you reserved the table for us."

They both sit down at a booth near the back. The booth is a a bit secluded, but that was definitely a good thing. They didn't want anyone to hear if they ended up talking about Phantom Thieves business.

Ann: "I've been so exhausted ever since we went to Mementos."

Makoto: "Ren really does make us cover a lot of ground, I wonder how Morgana must feel."

Ann: "Anyway, how have you been overall this past week?"

Makoto: "I've been uhm, fine I guess."

Ann: "Oh, just fine?"
