VERONICA VALDEZ
The breakfast's with the boys were usually pretty awkward, at least for me. I didn't really talk, I just ate quickly, wanting to leave as soon as possible while the other's were talking shit.
This morning was different, I had woken up at 9 -I know, it's a surprise for me too, I never wake up that early if I don't have an alarm- and did my morning routine. Get dressed, brush my teeth, put on some light makeup and go to the dining room to eat. I lived quite freely, there weren't many rules, the boys had told me not to go outside alone and to eat the meals with them, but other than that, nothing.
I didn't know how I'd go out because I sure as hell weren't going to spend time with the assholes. I ate the last piece of my bread and tried to chew it as quick as possible so I could go back to my room. I needed to talk to Ava."Veronica," A voice interrupted my eating. "You want to go out with us today?" Theo asked as he poured some more water into his glass.
Why did he have to look so damn fine?
Okay, I know I said I don't want to spend time with them but the desire to go out was almost unbearable.
"I guess," I muttered and stood up as Dobby came to take my plate.
"How enthusiastic, Ver," Mattheo chuckled. "We're leaving at 1 PM, be ready then."
I didn't bother answering, just nodded slightly and made my way back to my room.I had no idea where we were going, so I didn't spend too much time on my appearance. I just changed out of my sweatpants into jeans, and my T-shirt into a cute, light blue crop top I had bought just before I had to move.
When the clock hit 1 PM, I walked to the dining room to see if the boys were there, more specifically Theo, but I would never, ever admit that.
Unfortunately for me, Theo wasn't there, instead I see Enzo.
I'm not sure since I don't know any of them very well, but I have a feeling that Enzo is the calmest of them all. I don't know why, I just get good vibes from him.
And he confirmed everything by just one sentence.
"You look really pretty, Veronica," Enzo said with a small smile as he turned around. His tone was soft and kind, not like Tom's, for example.
"Thanks..." I muttered, and turned my head to the side to hide my flushed cheeks. Enzo didn't get on my nerves like the other four, probably because he didn't seem to enjoy torturing me. He didn't throw bitchy comments or try to act like he had a right to treat me badly just because my dad told him to look after me.
"We're about to leave, are you ready?" Enzo asked, and tilted his head slightly to the side.
"Yeah, I'm ready," I responded, and began to walk to the front door with Enzo behind me. I expected to feel his gaze on my ass, but I didn't. I even turned around to see where his eyes were, but he was looking straight forward and smiled to me as our eyes met.
He was melting my heart. Not in a romantic way, but in a you're so cute I want to just squeeze you and eat you alive kinda way.As we finally reached the hall where the other boys were waiting, I started feeling really awkward. I didn't even know where we were going and if I even wanted to go anywhere with them.
"You're going out wearing that?" Tom suddenly asked, his eyes studying my top.
"Yeah. Why?" I answered, feeling even more uncomfortable with his eyes on my chest.
Tom was about to open his mouth and say something before Enzo, my savior, cut him off. "Just let it be, Tom," Enzo took a step closer to me, and to my surprise, I didn't feel the need to move away.
"What's it to you, Berkshire?" Tom spat, looking like he was feeling threatened.
Enzo rolled his eyes, "No need to be such a d—"
"Shut the fuck up and let's just go," Mattheo groaned and pulled Tom out the door with him. I glanced at Enzo, who was clenching his jaw but followed the two of them outside.
I looked around one last time before going after them, to the sunlight. It was going to be a warm day, UV was high—which was why I wore the top, gotta tan when I have a chance—and I could feel the warmth of the ground through my shoes.
"You're going to get cold," Tom said, looking right at me.
"Cold? Here? It's probably the warmest day this summer," I frowned, and pulled my hair from my back over my shoulder.
"It's going to rain," He added flatly. "But do what you want, I guess."
I tilted my head and covered my eyes slightly with my hand so I could look at the sky. There was not a single cloud visible, only the burning sun that was making every inch of my body feel warm.
"Not here, dumbass. We're going somewhere where it's going to rain," Tom scoffed and took his wand out.
"It's alright, I'll give you my jacket when we get there," Theo whispered from behind me, making me flinch.
"Jesus Christ, don't sneak up on me like that!" I winced and pushed him back slightly. He just chuckled and put one of his hands on my shoulder, holding his wand on the other.
"You all know where to go?" Tom asked everyone, and they nodded.
Maybe they do but I have no idea.
Tom disappeared first, the boys following him one by one. When it was just me and Theo left anymore, I glanced at him impatiently.
"What are you waiting for?"
He shook his head slightly and made sure to keep his gaze on the ground while talking. "Just... when we get there, don't talk to anyone, and please, please, stay close to me even though you probably hate me."
"Why? Where are we going?" I asked. He looked so nervous I knew this couldn't be good.
"No questions, just do as I said," He pleaded before swayed his wand, making us apparate to somewhere completely unknown to me.
