VERONICA VALDEZ

I followed Enzo into the dining room where, to my surprise, was only Draco and Theo. Mattheo and Tom were nowhere to be seen. I was about to ask where they were but I didn't want to seem like I cared so I kept my mouth shut.
The table was filled with food, toasts, watermelon, bacon, eggs, juice... Narcissa had really outdone herself, she must've had a hand helping her prepare it.
"Sit," Enzo ordered and pulled a chair for me. I sat down, keeping my eyes on the table. To an outsider it probably seemed like we were getting along well and we're friends, but I'm still very reserved around them. They were not my friends and I was not theirs.
I was not there by choice.

"Did you sleep well?" Theo's voice echoed from the other side of the table

"Did you sleep well?" Theo's voice echoed from the other side of the table. He had this Italian accent that I found weirdly attractive. I think anyone would.
"Yeah, it was fine," I muttered and grabbed my fork. I still didn't look their way, but as Enzo sat down next to me I could feel their eyes on me.
"I found the princess in the balcony on fourth floor," Enzo chuckled. "She was taking a nap."
"A nap? But it's morning now?" Draco smirked. At least I think he smirked, I didn't want to look.
"Apparently she is following a whole different clock than what we are," Enzo shrugged and took a sip of his juice.
The way they were talking like I wasn't there was pissing me off. I could feel my mood drop from cheerful to irritated in a second.
"Why does it matter to you when I sleep?" I asked with a scoff.
"No need to get so riled up, princess," Theo responded, raising his eyebrow.
"Don't call me that." I rolled my eyes and started eating, refusing to look any of them. I had no reason to be annoyed, but that was enough of a reason for me. And I could always be annoyed just by the fact that I was forced to be here. Sometimes being annoyed and bitchy was fun. I think it's good for you, if it happens once in awhile. Who even could be happy 24/7? Not me, that's for sure.

The boys started talking between themselves, ignoring me completely. It's for the best, but it irritated me even more.
The fuck is going on with me? I'm not usually this grumpy.
I snapped out of my thoughts when Theo got a call. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and glanced at the screen. I could see his expression harden and his body tense up. Enzo's and Draco's eyes followed him as he stood up and stepped out of the room before answering the call. When he was out of sight, their eyes met, both of their faces getting a knowing expression.
"What?" I asked, my confusion wiping out all of the annoyance left. "Who was it?"
"It's nothing." Draco's eyes turned to me. He tried to continue eating like nothing happened but I could see from his face that he knew something was up.
The rest of the meal went by with all three of us sitting in silence. Theo's plate sat there, the rest of his food remaining untouched.
We were all finished by the time he came back, with a worried expression on his face.
"I have to go," He announced mostly to Enzo and Draco. Then he pointed his finger at me. "You. You stay here, don't go anywhere." His finger drifted to Enzo. "You watch her."
"Yes sir," Enzo answered, trying to lighten up the mood with a bit of sarcasm though it didn't work very well.
Theo walked out of the dining room, towards the hall. I heard him throw on a jacket before exiting the mansion, the door slamming after him.
"No, but seriously, what happened?" I asked Enzo and Draco. Why were they all so serious all of a sudden?
"None of your business," Draco glared at me, making me frown.
What the hell?
"Draco. Stop being a bitch, it's not her fault," Enzo shot back, touching my back with his hand. Draco just rolled his eyes and left the room, heading towards the stairs.
When he got out of sight Enzo turned to me. "Don't take it personally, he's stressed."
"Stressed because of what?" I began. "His father?"
Enzo sighed with a frown and looked away for a moment. "Yeah, you could say that."
I stared at him suspiciously. I knew Draco had daddy issues, I've seen the two of them in Hogwarts's parents day. Draco seemed stressed the whole day, but he tried to cover it up with his usual smugness, a trait he surely shares with his father. I've also seen Narcissa trying to calm Lucius down but they got out of my sight before I could see how the situation ended. I just didn't think it'd affect Draco this way.
Before I got too sympathetic my mood swings got a hold of me again. I stood up from my chair and turned to Enzo. "Just for the record, you don't need to 'watch me'. I don't need a babysitter."
Enzo lifted his head to get a better view of me. My mood swings were so unpredictable he probably thought I was crazy. "What is up with you?"
"Nothing! Nothing is up with me! Jesus, could you just leave me alone?" I snapped and stormed out of the room, leaving Enzo confused at the table.
Seriously, what is up with me? I'm usually much more composed.
I'm feeling so emotional and angry and happy and now I need to cry.
Fuck. This.
I threw myself on my bed and wrapped into my blanket like a burrito. I was about to reach for my iPad before I felt it.
I basically jumped up from my bed and grabbed what I needed from the drawer before sprinting to the bathroom. Pants off, one glance down and a sigh.
There she was. The reason I'd been grumpy all day.
Another week of pure torture.

I got my period.
