THEODORE NOTT
The man who owned the artifact was Eviar Wyrm. He was a 63 year old wizard, a half blood with a muggle father and a witch as a mother.
We'd been observing his house from afar, studying the people who went in and out of the house. One specific man had caught our interest as we saw him often visiting the house, a few hours every other day.
Just like today.
Me and Enzo had a plan. We'd catch the man, as he was clearly close with the owner, and we'd make him do the bidding, in this case, steal the floor plans for us.We stood in the pathway that went through a small plot of forest, leading from the main street to the house. It was nicely out of view for our plan to work. Hidden behind a few green leafed trees, our silhouettes were out of sight from anyone who wasn't specifically looking for us.
"How long is this going to take?" Enzo grumbled, leaning on the trees trunk as he fiddled with his wand.
"We've been here for twenty minutes, Enzo, don't be so damn impatient," I replied, keeping my eyes tightly on the main entrance. The door remained closed, and despite my comment, I was beginning to get tired too. Waiting wasn't my profession.
Enzo scoffed. "Yeah, twenty minutes too long." He cast a nonverbal spell on a pile of small rocks he'd been absentmindedly building a few moments ago, sending the rocks flying into different directions.
I flinched at the sound, turning to face Enzo. "What the fuck are you doing?"
"Trying not to die from boredom," he replied, pointing his wand at the remaining rocks on the broken pile.
I grabbed his wand, quickly putting it in my pocket as I glared at him. "No, you're attracting attention. Stop being so fucking childish and focus on the task."
Enzo raised his hands in surrender, standing up from the ground. "Jesus, man, chill." He looked around, focusing on the main street behind the trees about a hundred meters on the left. "No one saw anything."
"Yeah, you're damn lucky no one didn't. If you're the reason we mess this up and delay our return to home, I swear to God, Enzo, I will strangle you with my bare hands."
He smirked, shrugging. "Fine... By the way, which one do you miss more, your bed or Veronica?"* * *
The sound of the door opening snapped me back into reality, my senses alert again. It took three whole hours of waiting, but finally, our target was out. I smacked Enzo on the back of his head to make him focus too, which he did after sending me a glare. He gripped the wand I'd given him back after a few minutes from when I took it, his eyes studying the older man walking down the pathway, towards us.
This was the part I was scared of. We'd have to use three spells; stupefy, the apparition spell, and imperio. The last one was the one I dreaded the most. There ministry would know about it since both of us were underage and the trace was still there.
But we had no other choice.
As soon as the man had passed us by a few meters, Enzo quietly said the incantation and knocked him out. Our movements were quick as we walked to him, quickly glanced around and apparated ourselves and the man to the place we'd planned in advance.
The deep forest around us loomed over us as we set the man down on the ground, face up. Enzo raised his wand and used the Enervate spell to wake him up before taking a few steps back.
The man opened his eyes, looking around groggily before his eyes spotted us. I wasted no time as I said the incantation. "Imperio."
* * *The floor plan papers were spread on the table in front of us.
Enzo was studying them intently, tracing his finger along the black outlines that developed a whole floor on a single paper.
"See this?" He asked, pointing at a small square in between of three other rooms. "This is surely a secret room."
I snorted. "Or a cleaning closet."
He groaned, not-so-subtly giving me the finger. "Don't ruin this now. I'm getting excited."
"Excited?" I raised an eyebrow. "We're in Paris, completing a mission to an a—" I hissed in pain, covering my burning forearm with my palm. The dark mark made sure not a single bad word of its lord would be said. When the pain slowly subsided, I continued, "to Voldemort. Now, after our latest stunt we most probably have the Ministry after us, and—"
"Yes, I know," Enzo sighed. "But this is our life and we have to deal with it. We must finish this quickly so we can get back. The Ministry won't dive into the Dark Lord's base just like that."
I knew Enzo was right, but it still felt so wrong. I hadn't asked for this life, none of us did. Except Tom, maybe, because he was so damn infatuated with the idea of being the next Dark Lord, his rightful place. He'd never admitted it, but I was almost certain he was afraid of failing. Whether failing himself or his father scared him more, I didn't know, but the pressure he was under... brutal.
"I suppose you're right."After an hour of studying, speculating and inspecting we were certain we'd found it. Under the house, was a secret room. The floor plans of it hadn't been drawn on a blue paper like the rest of the house. It was hand drawn on a normal piece of paper, clipped to the other ones tightly. The stairs leading there weren't attached to any hallway, but a supposed bedroom. We assumed the entrance would be covered with a painting, cupboard or some other object large enough.
Everything was much more clearer now. The plan was done, now all that was left to do was to break in and get the artifact if the man wouldn't break under pressure and make it easier for us with cooperation. I wasn't about to use Imperio again because of the Ministry. They were coming, that was for sure, but we'd have to be quicker and get back to Malfoy manor before they'd catch us."Oh, and Theo?" Enzo grinned.
"Yes?" I asked slowly, knowing this was something that'd piss me off.
"You never answered my question, which one do you miss more, Veronica or your bed?"______________________________________
