VERONICA VALDEZ
Spending time with Theo is really fun.
Not just because I like him romantically and think he's the most handsome guy ever, but because of the persona he has. I'm convinced that even if we weren't having this mutual crush thing going on we'd still do great as friends. His comedic timing is impeccable and he always manages to find just the right words to rip a laugh out of me—and everyone else for that matter—. I love the way he views things and now that I know him a bit better I've noticed we share many same opinions on things. The way he doesn't romanticize things for fun but sees them realistically as they are is one of the few things we haven't got in common, but it's okay. It's a great change compared to my point of view since I always try to see the best in everything and everyone.
Theo's voice shook me from my thoughts and I turned my head to look at him. "Hm?"
"Do you want to watch another movie or are you bored?" He asked, using a tone that made it clear he was repeating the sentence. Every time he spoke my brain just shut off. Maybe it was the Italian accent that got me each time, or maybe it was the low, rough voice that echoed deep from his body. Everything about him made me go crazy.
"Oh, yeah. Sure." I looked back at the screen. We'd already watched two movies in an attempt to actually kill time. The boys had planned the beach trip in the evening since Tom and Mattheo had to meet up with their father, and at the moment it was only half past eleven in the morning. "Sorry," I quickly added, apologizing for making Theo repeat himself.
Theo shrugged, running his hand through his hair. "So... what do you wanna watch?"***
Hours later, after multiple movies, lots of snacks and a couple of deep conversations with Theo the clock finally told us it was time to start getting ready.
Theo left to his own room and I started thinking what I should wear. I wanted to look cute, but not show too much. It it was only Theo and me I'd be fine with a little risky bikinis, but there were others too.
I still remember the tantrum Tom threw when I wore a crop top. It wasn't even that revealing, but for some reason he still had a problem with it. I don't even want to imagine what he'd say if I wore the one red bikinis I have in the back of my closet...
Eventually, I made a decision. Dark blue bikinis that covered enough of my—small, but it's still there—cleavage to not look like I'd been planning to go swimming with a boyfriend.
The midday sun wasn't shining in such a burning temperature anymore, but I packed sunscreen anyways. I shoved in the bag also a towel, a carry-on charger, AirPods and a book I hadn't quite finished yet. I changed into my bikinis and pulled my previous clothing over it so I could change at the beach. I assumed the boys would do the same, plus I didn't know if there was a place where I could change in peace.
I had just finished packing, when I heard footsteps behind my door. A few seconds later someone was knocking on my door.
"Can I come in?"
It's Theo.
"Sure," I replied and set my bag on top of the bed as he stepped in, looking as handsome as always. He was wearing a tight white t-shirt and blue shorts. The shirt was stretched tight around his biceps where my eyes lingered for a little too long.
He smirked."You ready to go?" He asked, his eyes darting between my bag and me. When I nodded, he grabbed my bag with one hand and offered me the other.
Let me tell you, I almost melted.
I gave him my hand and followed him to the hall where all the others were already waiting. Enzo was holding two bags, apparently his own and Theo's. They all had shorts on, and only now I realized they were the swimming shorts. They don't look much different compared to normal ones, so they could just walk around in them.
Oh, how easy. I'm almost jealous.
Theo grabbed his bag from Enzo while Tom opened the door and walked out, us all following him. I held Theo's hand as we made our way towards the gate that stood tall in the middle of the garden. The sun was already setting, reflecting a beautiful variety of colors in the sky. None of us said anything as we walked, like a silent agreement to not to. The only noise I could hear was our footsteps and the birds chirping nearby. This was exactly what I imagined when someone described a peaceful summer evening.
And to be honest, the boy's company isn't that bad.
In Hogwarts I always saw them as monsters who don't have feelings or any kind of sympathy toward others. That's when I didn't know them. I still don't, but I've seen them on a daily basis for a comparatively long time now. They're all humans, just like me, with feelings, opinions, needs, wants... I've seen it for a while now, but the reality hits me in the face just as hard every time. It's hard to change a first impression of someone just like that, but I'm trying. And I'm sure that by the end of this summer, I'll be able to see them in a completely different lighting with no suspicion they'd be the persons I've seen them as for all those years at Hogwarts.
I snapped out of my thoughts as Theo squeezed my hand gently. I turned to look up at him as I squeezed his hand back, admiring his features. The setting sunlight casted the perfect lighting on his already handsome face, and I couldn't help but just stare like an idiot.
He smirked, and said the words that made me weak to my knees every damn time.
"You're so cute, bella."______________________________________
