This is a request from _fili_and_kili_. I hope you all like it!

Kili's P.O.V

Warm sun shines down upon the grassland and as I pick up my bow from the ground, I can't help but think of the news I heard from my brother, Fili. Apparently uncle decided to retake back our homeland. At first I was schocked that he decided to do so but after thinking it over, I thought, why don't I actually participate in this. Uncle asked me and Fili, if we wanted to come on this journey and we not even giving a glance to each other immediately agreed but our mother thought about this very differently. She started shouting at uncle, telling him it was very reckless of him. Reckless. That's what my family always said about me. I was the black sheep of the family with my beardless face and my thin frame. Sometimes I was very depressed about it, but I didn't show to everyone just only two people that really care about me. Fili and Rachel. They always supported me no matter what. Rachel always brought us sweets from her mother's bakery. Now that I think of her, I can't help but imagine her beautiful [Y/C/E] eyes and that sweet smile in front of my face. We started courting each other two years ago, when my uncle finally gave his premission. My brother and mother were ecstatic to hear the news about my relationship with her. Now as those two years hav passed, I want to officially marry her in the name of Mahal and I should do this fast, because we are leaving soon for the quest and she can't go on it, unless I somehow convince uncle to let her join us.

I shake my head to clear it out of thoughts so that I could concentrate. Loading up an arrow, I hear a rustling noise behind me. I turn around and carefully watch the bushes for any sign of movement. Seconds pass and then suddenly one orc jumps out of his hiding place and runs towards me. I quickly shoot him with my bow and the arrow pierces his heart. It's good that I have practised so much with my bow or I wouldn't even hit the target. Another one comes forward and I shoot him in the eye this time. He falls on the ground and I take up my sword out of it's sheath and cut off his head. How can they be here? They should be here in Blue Mountains, unless they have crossed the secret passage... No, I need to warn my uncle and Dwalin, they can help. I think in my head. But as I want to run back to the village, another group of orcs run in my direction. I'll try to hold them off as long as I can.

Rachel's P.O.V.

I sit here at the kitchen table, thinking about what Fili said to me. They are going on a quest! I don't know whether I should be upset about it or not. Thorin takes his nephews onto a dangerous journey much to his sister's chagrin. I want to go with them, but I know I won't be permitted to do so. I curse Mahal for being so uncaring about his own creation. Why did he have to make us dwarrowdams be so scarce? There are more men that women in dwarven culture and that's because there are so few of us who marry and few of us in all. My mother was lucky to find my father after he survived the Battle of Moria. She sheltered him for weeks and in those weeks, they fell in love with each other. My mother says that I resemble him more that her. I only have her eyes. The eyes that Kili loves.

Kili, my 'One'. The dwarf, whom I love so much, enough to sacrifice my life for him. I couldn't help but be happy, when his uncle said we could court each other. I remember the expression on his face when he heard those words. He looked shocked, but after few minutes he started smiling and soon it broadened into a grin, which was so infectuous that I started grinning too. I didn't even notice it at first, when he pressed his lips to mine. That was such a bliss then. Now, I'm worried that I won't see him again.

A sudden feeling of dread washes over me. What if he will perish on this journey? What if I won't be able to see his beautiful dark brown eyes that always shine with mirth when he is happy. No. I think determinetely. He won't die, not on my watch. I go out of my house, but not before picking up my sword, which Thorin gave me as a gift for my 75th birthday. When I pass Kili's house, I spot his mother sitting near the window and sewing something. She lifts her head and smiles when she sees me. I wave at her and run along.

After running for minutes, I stop to breathe in the air. I lift my gaze to the horizon and see that sun is slowly setting down. Suddenly I hear a clang of sword, coming from the east of me. I run towards the noise but stop near the tree to see what is happening. My eyes widen when I see Kili fighting off a pack of orcs all by himself. Not even thinking my plan through, I jump into the fight and start helping him with killing them. Even if they are two times bigger that dwarves, their fighting skills are no match for dwarven battle prowess. When he finally notices me, his eyes widen in shock.

"What are you doing here, Rachel?!" he shout-asks me. I mentally roll my eyes at his over-protectiveness.

"Saving your sorry ass, that's what I'm doing!" I say as I stab one orc in the back. He has no time to reply, because an orc crashes into him with a force enough to leave him breatheless. Kili struggles to stand up and I immediately run to his side. I take his arm and help him to stand up. We look around and see that there is only one orc left. I take a sharp knife out of my boot and throw it at him. It hits him between the eyes and he falls down dead.

After the fight be both sit on the ground heavily panting. I slowly entwine my fingers with his.

"That was quite a fight, wasn't it Rachel?" he asks me, while looking into my eyes. The corner of my lips turns upwards.

"Oh, yes it was." I reply. Kili shily takes my hands in his and lifts my head with his finger. I look into his eyes and see only love and devotion in them.

"Rachel, I wanted to ask you something I wanted to ask for a long time," he takes out a little box from his pocket and opens it, "Will you do me honour and officially become my wife?" I stare at him in shock. I can't believe that Kili has just proposed to me! Instead of saying anything, I passionately kiss him on the lips and I think that's all the answer he needed from me as he put the ring with tiny diamonds onto my finger. We brake the kiss after few moments to breathe in the air.

"Now that that's settled, how about asking my uncle the permission to let you join us on this journey?" he said with a sly smile. I raise my brow and smirk right back at him.

"Let's do it!"
