Din Djarin's point of view:
It had been a few days since Luke had invited me to his and Leia's birthday dinner - I still had no idea what to get him. For Leia I had brought her : a funny illustrated book on being a bartender, a box's et of the inbetweeners and a new jumper. For Luke though? Some sweets.
I had no idea what to get him. Well until today. Which is how I ended up rushing over to Ashoka's and burst in to say, "I need your help to sew something!" I burst into her living room.
Her head snapped, "Alright." She said calmly. "What is it, what size, what material and how long have we got."
"A shirt, I have no idea, why would I know the material and a week." I reeled off the answers and saw her face drop as if to say 'are you serious?' "Will you help me or not?" I asked in desperation.
"Yes of course sit down and explain." She urged me to.
I say down next to her and pulled out my phone pulling up a photo. "I'm going to Luke and Leia's birthday dinner and I want to make him the shirt that I spilt coffee over." I explained.
"Ah, I see." She squinted at the photo. "Well it says its a one size only and a silk blend." She informed me as if I knew what she was talking about. "We could do a synthetic silk and just figure out the measurements of the original shirt." She suggested.
"Perfect." I smiled.
And so the digging began, I found the measurements of the shirt and she found some synthetic silk fabric in a crème colour and ordered it.
Over the next few days we worked on the shirt while also (gossiping) talking about Luke.
"So his dad fired us all so he could take over the company?" She rolled her eyes.
"Mhm, I nodded. I think we're getting a but side tracked though." I laughed. "Back to the hospital, it was so strange to see him show human emotions. It was nice to see that side of him." I reminisced in a melancholic tone.
While seeing some folds Ashoka raised an eyebrow, "Sounds like someone got a little thing for a millionaire." She spoke like a nosey grandmother.
Trying to steer the conversation away from this, I laughed, "Absolutely not, thats revolting. Anyway-"
"You do, don't you?" She sat up a bit with a bit more excitement in her tone. "Din please don't tell me you have a crush on Luke Skywalker." She begged.
"I don't have a crush on Luke Skywalker." I raised my hands in self defense, "And don't say 'crush' thats way too childish." I scolded her.
"Oh I'm so sorry, my lord." She mocked me. "But you defiantly do!" She exclaimed. "Your in far too deep Din!"
"I am not in love with Luke Skywalker!" I laughed as if she were crazy.
"Do you think he's handsome?" She asked.
I responded, "Well he's certainly not bad looking."
"His personality?"
"Up and down, but he's sweet when he wants to be." I cane to Luke's defense.
"Why are you going to his party?" she asked.
"Its not his party. Its also Leia's party, who is my friend." I argued back.
Ashoka sighed, "You're too far gone Din." She pinched the bridge if her nose and her voice was laced with sarcasm.
Was I? I didn't even think I was in love with him.
Time skip brought to you by Will from the inbetweeners.
~;~;~;~It was the evening of the birthday dinner and I was getting ready. Since I had some spear money I decided to buy a suit, just from a charity shop and it kind of smelt like a loft. The trousers didn't match the blazer which was a slightly darker shade of brown, however the awful burgundy tie was what really pulled the look together.
I strolled into the living room where Leia was sitting as I tied my tie, "Are you sure you want me there?" I laughed. "I don't want to embarrass you in front of your family and really rich friends."
She laughed too, "Of course I want
you there Din. I've been living with you for months now, we practically are family."Her comment brought a smile to my face, "Thank you Leia. Thank you for all you've done for me... and Grogu." I added. "And happy birthday." I plonked myself down next to her.
She smiled weakly, "Don't be getting all sappy on my Din Djarin." She laughed. "No but really, anytime, I'm always here for you. Now lets skip the boring stuff, what did you get Luke for his birthday, I've seen that fancy flat box in your room. Its a lively ribbon."
I shook my head, "Sorry, no can do. Im not telling you. You'll have to find out tonight."
She jumped off the sofa and pulled me up, "Well lets go then! I need to know what you've got my brother." She exclaimed pulling me towards the door.
As I was being dragged by Leia I quickly picked up the two bags of presents for Luke and Leia as i was rushed outside and into the chilly evening air. We ran to the car and jumped in and we were on our way, blasting the radio.
