DID SOMEBODY SAID COMEBACCCCCK!

MEL POV:

We walked slowly as grandpa and grandma explained and showed me the park like I haven't lived in London my whole life.

But they looked so excited to show me so I let them drag me to every interesting piece in the park they wanted.

I texted Leah to meet me in the middle of the park and as soon as I spot her I smiled and made my way with my crutches towards her.

„Hey Mel, it's so good to see you." Leah said as she hugged me carefully not to hurt me.

„I love to see you too..." I mumbled against her shoulder.

We parted as grandma made our way to us and told us her goodbyes and left me with Leah alone.

„So, we I made us a plan but you see, you didn't tell me that your ankle was hurt that bad." Leah lifted her eyebrow at me but didn't say anything.

I looked down at my ankle brace and sigh: „I thought that Lucy told you about it. I didn't think of telling you it was that bad."

„So tell me." She put a hand over my shoulders: „How did you got hurt and why did you call me two days ago?"

„You got too many questions at once." I mumbled and smiled a bit.

„I know, but I'm just concerned about you." She said, making me look back down at my toes.

„I...think I have a bit of a problem. Lucy tried to get me to go gift shopping for my birthday but I hate my birthday so I told her no and she said something about being a "good mum" and I yelled at her in the heat of a moment. She forgiven me, but it's still kinda weird. I didn't mean to." I finished as we walked into Leah's car which was parked at the end of the park.

She took a deep breath and looked at me: „Well Mel, I don't want to be rude, but how could she know if you didn't tell her hm?"

She was right, of course she was. I never told Lucy I didn't like my birthday or the fact why I don't. For me it was normal not to celebrate it, me and my father always used to just go to dinner and act like it was a normal one instead of some celebration. Lucy could not know that from anywhere.

„How come you are always right?” I asked as she started her car and parked out of the spot.
„I’m the captain…I know how to deal with this stuff.” she smirked at me as I rolled my eyes.

We drove in silence until she stopped in front of the Emirates stadium: „You took me to a football game?”

She shrugged her shoulders: „Did I?”
I frowned but followed her out of her car inside of the stadium. There was no one there, literally. Just me, Leah and some staff members that were either cleaning the area or repairing something.

I followed Leah closely as we made it outside. Onto the field, that was when Leah stopped and turned my way.

„I thought you could use some football free talk. So come on, we will sit down.” Leah was literally making no sense, why to go to one of the biggest stadiums in London to NOT talk about football.

I sighed but followed her closely as we sat down on the substitution bench. I set my crutches next to me and leaned back and just sank in the atmosphere that this stadium has even without the fans in the stands.

„It’s still the same.” I whispered more to myself than talking to Leah.

„What do you mean?” She asked.

I ran a hand through my hair: „The stadium, I…I used to go here with my father when there were some big games, you know I was in the stadiums around England when the Euro's were last summer. I was there. Watching the games. It was the last time I was anywhere near the England stadium. It was the last time my life felt normal. And now seeing it again…it just shows that not everything changed.” I bit my lip as I looked at Leah who was already looking at me.

„Yeah, I know what you mean.” Leah said, looking at my way.

I narrowed my eyes: „How?”

„Um…okay I don't, but I sense the energy from you that you just need to talk and someone to listen.” She said, placing a hand on my shoulder.

„You were always here to listen. You even let me stay at your house, and I never told you thank you.” I sniffed a little and hugged her.

She pulled me as close as she could: „Come on mate, it's okay. I know you appreciate it, but you need to open up to someone else too. I bet you broke your ligaments while running hm?”

I took a deep breath: „I got my nightmares back…after the summer started. So every time it woke me up I knew I wouldn't fall asleep so everyday I went on a run.”

She rubbed a hand up and down my back as I continued: „The day I turned them, it was…really really bad nightmare. And I went to run again and I somehow ended up on the other side of the city near a football stadium. I pulled from it…because I didn't know how to start again or- or to push me again to play. And I ran into Alexia. She took her dog for a walk and she knew something was wrong but I didn't open it so we went to kick a ball for a bit and I made one wrong move with my leg and…then it was just pain.”

„When are you starting physio?” Leah asked quietly.

„In two days when we are back in Barcelona.” I signed.

But then I remembered something: „Leah?”

„Yeah?”

„Did you argue a lot with Jordan…before you broke up?” I mumbled not really knowing if it was my thing to share or not.

Leah stayed quiet so I looked up from her shoulder and saw her just looking ahead of her.

She swallowed hard: „Why do you ask?”

I bit my lip: „Since I can't sleep at night and I'm up early in the mornings and my room is literally next to their bedroom I hear every single thing they say. They are arguing all the time, when they think I can't hear them. At the beginning it was big things…I think. But now it's actually just bullshit. They argued about dishes, but not in a speaking voice, they were literally shouting at each other.”

„Mel…listen. If they are not arguing about you.” I shook my head:„ then just…let them do it okay? Don't try to mingle into it. They will work it out.” Leah replied sadly.

„And if they don't?”

She looked at me: „Don’t think negatively.” I chucked a bit as I rolled my eyes.

„Now come one, I'm hungry.” Leah said, helping me up as we went across from the pitch in silence.
