LUCY POV:

“LUCY?” Ona yelled from the bathroom as me and Keira watched Mel walk to her room.

“Yeah?” I asked as I stepped into the bathroom.

Ona was holding a football jersey with Mel's name on it, dirty cleats, and the rest of a kit.

I frowned and took it from her observing it.

“You didn't tell me Mel was playing football at her high school.” Ona said.

I frowned: “I didn't know…Hey Kei?”

“Yeah?” Keira appeared in the doorway.
“Did you know about this?” I handed her the dirty jersey.

“I…no.” She said.

“That's why she didn't want to give me the bag.” Ona says but me and Keira are just looking at each other.

When did we get to the point where Mel is not talking to us about anything. We don't know about her friends and we didn't know she plays football for her school. And she apparently had a match we had no idea about.

“I feel like a bad mother.” Keira said, handing the jersey back to Ona who put it into the wash.

“You aren't a bad mother Kei.” I hugged her as she put her hands around my shoulders.

“But, she was always at my place and I had no idea about this. What does that say about me? About the US as parents?!” Keira was rambling as I pulled her closer to me and I felt Ona putting a hand on my lower back.

“We will talk to her. She can't be doing this. Also her therapist called…she's been skipping her meetings.” I mumbled the last part.

“What?! Okay, I'll go talk to her.” Keira said but I stopped her by grabbing her wrist: “Not now. Let her sink in what she's doing to herself.”

“I'll go check on her instead. I'm the third person, I'm not involved with anything.” Ona said and I didn't stop her.
Her and Mel had this friendly kind of bond which I was happy about.

I looked down at Mel's dirty cleats: “I'm going to go wash them and make a coffee. Do you want some?” I asked Keira and she nodded after me to the kitchen.

MEL POV:

Sitting on the side of the bed still looking at the place where just a few moments ago my father was standing. I know he wasn't real, but things he said were in my head.

I quietly folded Jana's jersey and placed it at the top of my pillow.

I didn't have my phone on me so the only thing I could do was staring at the white wall in front of me or out of the window by my desk.

I settled for the window.

I opened it and sat at the top of my desk looking down. It wasn't that high, but it was high enough for me to injure myself if I jumped.

Would somebody even miss me?

I slowly leaned in more and more until I was at the edge between the table and the outside world.

Could I possibly jump?

I quickly shook my head and got down from the table closing the window.
I stared blankly at the window debating what just crossed my mind.

“Mel?” I jumped when I felt a hand on my shoulder.

“Ona, you scared the hell out of me.” I exhaled and put a hand on my chest.

She smiled: “Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. I came here to check on you.”
I looked towards the window and swallowed hard: “Well, I'm fine.”
