Ch 10

Waking up to my alarm the next morning I groan softly and rub my eyes before getting up and get dressed then head out to the company's gym. Once I arrive I see Matt already there and give a little smile saying softly. "Morning." He looks up and smiles softly. "Hey good morning. You ready to work out some more?" I nod and we start out with stretches and then we start doing harder exercises I doing my best to keep up. After a while of working out I stop taking a few breaths and wipe my brow. "You're doing a lot better Declan." I give him a shy thanks as I take a seat and watch as Matt continues his work out we chatting occasionally when he speaks up. "I was wondering if you wanted to go out on a date tonight." I blink then blush and say a little softly. "Sure. What time?" He hums before saying simply. "I'll pick you up around six." I nod feeling butterflies in my stomach as he finishes his workout then we get up and part ways I heading back to my dorm where I shower and pull on some comfortable clothes I heading to the kitchen where I greet my sister. "Hey! You wanna watch some drama's tonight?" I pause and look at her shyly. "Actually I uh I have a date." She looks at me in surprise. "With who?" I hesitate before saying softly. "With Matt. He said we'll take things slow to see if I'm comfortable with being romantic with a guy and stuff." She stares at me a little before saying softly. "Declan I know how Eomma was and how she treated you for being sensitive but you don't need to hide yourself anymore. If you want to be with Matt just know I'll fully support you." I give her a small appreciative smile. "Thanks Abby." She smiles at me and gives me a side hug before pulling away to let me cook. We then eat breakfast and chat hanging around until it's time for me to get ready I rushing to my room and grab a simple shirt and jeans with a leather jacket then slip on some sneakers. I then brush my hair and hesitate before deciding not to do makeup. I then hear a knock on the door I leaving the bathroom and head to the front door only to grimace when I see Abby talking quietly with Matt. I clear my throat to get their attention Abby jumping and gives me a sheepish smile before rushing off whispering a "have fun" as she passes me. I shake my head then look at Matt shyly he smiling at me and holds out a single rose. I blush and take it saying softly. "Thank you it's lovely." I quickly set the rose in a small cup of water then rush back to Matt smiling as he leads me outside to his truck. I get in and he gets in as well before starting to drive off. "So what exactly are we doing?" He hums. "I thought we should do a picnic in the woods because I wanted something private and without the worry of being caught by fans." I nod agreeing that it's a good idea. We pull up to a trail and we get out Matt grabbing a picnic basket and blanket then we start walking. It takes a while but we eventually reach an open meadow where we spread out the blanket then sit down I looking around at everything admiring the scenery. Matt then pulls out some food and we start eating and talking softly I actually eating more than usual Matt giving me a proud look. "So you said that you moved here due to personal reasons. Do you wanna talk about it?" I sigh and say a little softly. "My uh my mom wasn't a very nice person. My dad died when Abby and I were born and when we were little my mom would lock me and Abby in a closet without food for hours. Then she'd hurt me for being what she called sensitive. She always said that I needed to man up and that boys were tough and didn't cry." I take a little breath before continuing. "Well when we were thirteen our teacher reported my multiple broken arms and bruises and my mom was arrested for abuse and drugs. We moved in with my aunt and her two kids and Abby and I were both pretty happy. Well last year my mom got out of prison and she started stalking me and Abby and threatening us. She'd leave messages on our phones and just terrorized us. So we packed up and moved here to get away." He gives me a sympathetic look. "I'm sorry. Is that why you're quiet and scared of showing interest in anyone?" I give a little nod. "I was four and had a close relationship with a boy in my neighborhood and I remember my mom caught us holding hands and I got beaten so bad I ended up in the emergency room." He immediately frowns. "And the doctors never caught on?" I shrug. "My mom said that I fell down the stairs and I was terrified to say against her." He shakes his head and gently takes my hand. "I'm sorry." I give him a small smile saying shyly. "It's okay. I'm just glad I moved here and was able to meet you." He smiles and we stare into each others eyes I immediately feeling my stomach twist with butterflies as he moves closer and closer to me until our lips are inches apart my breath hitching as he slowly closes the distance between us our lips connecting in a soft kiss. I kiss him back the kiss soft and sweet we slowly pulling away when we need air. I immediately give him a shy smile as my cheeks heat up. "I don't want to but I should probably get back to the dorm." He nods and we pack up the food containers then fold up the blanket and head back to the truck where he drives me to the dorm. Once we park I look at him with a smile. "Thanks for tonight." He smiles. "You're welcome. See you tomorrow?" I nod and hesitate before leaning forward and peck his lips before pulling away blushing. "Bye Matt." I then get out and head inside I surprised to see that Abby's not waiting for me. Shrugging I head to change and lay down slowly falling asleep a smile on my face.
