Hally was completely and utterly beside herself after finding out about Hermione being petrified.

Things were becoming dire. She could hardly even focus on the cleaning task that Snape was having her do currently.

Usually being in his presence caused her to forget all of the issues around her but not today. She was in panic mode. She knew they were running out of time to figure out who opened the chamber of secrets and what the monster was that was petrifying people.

She had a feeling that if the monster struck again it was going to result in a muggleborns death.

"Is your head elsewhere today Potter ?" Snape's deep voice broke her train of thought as he appeared right next to her at the sink.

The cauldron in her hands slipped and went crashing into the filled tub causing a wave of dirty water to splash upwards and land all over the front of her robes.

Snape lifted an eyebrow and scowled at the girl in front of him.

"Perhaps it would be wise to pay attention to the task at hand since clearly you cannot multitask cleaning cauldrons and having your mind wander without getting water all over my classroom floor." He chided mockingly as he eyed her now soaked outer robes with disgust.

A deep blush overcame Hally's cheeks as Snape pointed his wand downwards and scourgifyed the floor around them.

Hally then brought her attention down to her robes and back up to her professor with pleading eyes before he turned his nose up at her in blatant irritation and huffed out a dramatic sigh before he reluctantly gave in and scourgifyed her as well.

"Thank you professor, I actually am a little bit distracted now that you ask-"

-"I was not actually asking. It was rhetorical.' He muttered out in annoyance, 'simply an observation."

Hally deflated at his words and reached into the sink to grab the cauldron and resume her cleaning, "I'm sorry. I thought you were genuinely asking." Snape rolled his eyes while turning around at her words and started to make his way back to his desk.

Hally couldn't see what he was doing behind her but she assumed he went back to the grading he was doing when she entered the room.

"Stop what you are doing and come assist me with grading the first year papers on the importance of bezoars. I have much grading to finish and I don't have time to read one hundred silly papers that each seem to be worse than the previous one." Snape drawled in a tone that consisted of boredom and irritation while his eyes flicked over to his student.

Hally discreetly smiled before she turned around and walked over to his desk with a neutral expression. She was aware that he didn't actually need help with the grading. It was his way of trying to get her out of her head. He was trying to get her to focus on something more mentally stimulating than cleaning cauldrons.
