"Professor, everything is fine I'm just shaken up." Hally tried to calm Snape down but her words just seemed to anger him more.

"You don't get it, Potter ! That should have never happened ! They're supposed to be hunting Black not you !" Snape moved further away from her and started to pace around the front of her bed.

"Did anyone tell you about what happened to my broom ?"

Snape ceased his pacing and looked over at her with wild eyes. "Really ? That is your main concern right now ?"

"Well...not really but I wish to know." She shrugged while looking away from his judgmental gaze.

"It is in pieces. It blew into the whomping willow, probably justice for the injury you and Mr Weasley caused it in the beginning of last year." Snape snarked in a monotone voice like he couldn't believe he was having to talk about a broken broomstick right now with everything else that was going on.

"Thank you." Hally said quietly as defeat settled in her bones.

Snape noticing her solemn expression wanted to place her mind onto something else. "With that being said there... is however... a spell that repels dementors. I think it's time that you learned it."

Hally's eyes lit up slightly at his words. The hope that she could protect herself from those creatures caused her to perk up. "What is it ?"

"It is a patronus charm.' He explained as his eyes scanned her own. 'Nevertheless, I must regretfully warn you that it is not very easy to master."

"But it is possible with practice, right ?" She checked to make sure that he wasn't wasting her time telling her about this charm.

"Yes...once you are cleared for discharge we will go over it more." He confirmed with a single nod of his head.

The close mouthed smile that came over her lips was the first genuine one she had cracked since the incident. It made Snape's stomach flip at the thought that it was directed at him.

He knew in that moment that the feeling she brought forth in him could quickly become addictive if he didn't put a cap on it.

Her mouth slowly pulled from a smile into a more serious line as she noted his distant expression.

"Why do the dementors have such an affect on me but not on anyone else ?" He seemed to come back to himself at her question.

For the first time since she'd known him Snape looked almost uncomfortable and hesitant to answer her.
