Year Two-
Hally's eyes widened at the sight of her very cross looking potions professor standing next to where Dumbledore was seated. She tried her best to hide her surprise as she wasn't expecting him to be here for her conversation with Dumbledore. She had hoped that she would have been able to face him on a later day. Maybe even at the start of third year. But as usual Lady Luck was not on her side.
Snape's darkened stare followed her as she took tentative steps into the study and up the few marble stairs in front of the headmasters desk.
The early morning light was leaking in from the small window- adjacent to where the two men were situated- illuminating the golden frames of Dumbledore's spectacles and the sharp plains of Snape's face.
As Hally came to a stop in front of the large wooden desk she tried to keep her eyes on her headmaster and away from her glowering potions professor.
She knew she had directly went against Snape's warnings and went chasing 'ghosts' around the castle but she had no regrets. Ginny would have died and Voldemort would have had his full powers back if she hadn't interfered.
"I'm glad to see you are well Hally. Professor Mcgonagall mentioned that you have something for me.' Dumbledore glanced down at the now tattered book clutched in her hands. 'What do you have there ?" He questioned breaking the agonizing silence at last.
Trying to ignore Snape's thunderous stare Hally swallowed harshly and responded. "It's Tom Riddles diary sir."
"It's what ?!" Snape snapped causing Hally to jump slightly at the unexpected outburst.
"Severus please,' Dumbledore held his hand upwards-halting Snape's outrage. 'Let Hally tell us her version of what has happened before you interrupt."
Snape's jaw clenched tightly and gaze hardened at the headmasters command but he remained silent and let Hally continue on with her explanation.
"Right well I of course didn't realize that Tom Riddle was a young you-know-who-"
-"If you had told me the truth about the diary in the first place I would have informed you of such." Snape intercepted her version of events once more.
"Severus..." Dumbledore started.
"I didn't mention the name on the diary because I didn't realize the correlation at that point in time, I was still convinced that Hagrid was responsible for setting the monster loose the first time before Ron talked to him and told me that he was framed, that Aragog didn't harm any of the students. That's when I knew it was a different monster and that didn't happen until after our conversation last night !" Hally shot back at her potions professor as he glared at her with such an intense stare that it caused the hair on her arms to stand up.
