The match against Ravenclaw went well enough.

Hally ended up catching the golden snitch which put Gryffindor into the finals against Slytherin for the quidditch cup.

Cho Chang, the Ravenclaw seeker had put up a good fight against her but alas, the firebolt was unbeatable.

The game would have went off without a hitch too if Malfoy and his cronies hadn't dressed up as dementors and nearly scared Hally off of her broom.

Being half distracted by being so close to catching the snitch— she didn't put her full energy into the patronus charm thus, only managing to produce a dull white light from the tip of her wand once more.

The plus side of mucking up the spell was that it was still strong enough to get the boys busted by professor Mcgonagall.

Hally noticed Lupin at the game but not Snape. She figured he would have wanted to watch her first game on the broom that he got her but apparently not.

He never came to Gryffindor's quidditch matches if they weren't playing Slytherin.

It was rather pompous of him, she thought.

It would be nice if he attempted to support her sometimes.

Lupin had praised her briefly after the win. She thanked him of course but didn't linger. Truthfully, she had been avoiding him outside of his classes recently since Snape was a much better teacher when it came to helping her with the patronus charm.

She hadn't even gotten anywhere close to a full corporeal patronus when the DADA professor was guiding her.

Snape just brought out a different side of her and her magic. She felt powerful around him and competent.

For the most part, at least.

Later that evening there was a party in the Gryffindor common room.

Everyone was having a great time.

Well... everyone except for Hermione who of course was sat in the corner with her face buried in an enormous book.

"Why don't you come and join in ?" Hally asked while making her way over to her bushy haired friend.

"This book needs to be read by Monday Hally, besides I guarantee that Ronald does not want me to partake in the festivities."

As if right on cue Ron shouted that Scabbers would have really enjoyed the sweets that George and Fred had brought back from Honeydukes if he hadn't been eaten.

Hermione looked more stressed than ever at his words and immediately burst into tears while slamming her book shut and taking off with it up to their dorm room.

Hally's heart sank at the sight. She had been so wrapped up in her own problems that she hadn't even noticed one of her best friends was falling apart at the seams.
