Sixteen: Apologies.

-------
Louis.
Locking his car, Louis cast a quick look around, then proceeded inside the school building. He had made it to school earlier than usual for the first time in months, and his punctuality might have had to do with avoiding confronting Liam.
After Louis had gotten in early after the night out --where he had played the fifth wheel-- Liam had texted him that he was sorry and that they would talk tomorrow at school.
Liam had sent the text at 2 AM and Louis just chose to not think about it too much.
After safely entering the campus grounds and escaping the parking lot, the feather haired boy decided to wait in the auditorium and revise his script as Drama was first and second period today and they had a test plys rehearsal as well. Not that Louis minded. He loved Drama.
Hiking his backpack up his shoulder, Louis briskly made his way towards the large auditorium building, his thoughts jumping from one tangent to another.
He heaved a small sigh of relief as he reached the steps to the auditorium, still thinking absent mindedly, that he didn't even hear someone calling his name.
From his play to Liam to the make up tests he has to give soon to the rehearsals to--
"Louis! Wait up!"
Louis closed his eyes and sighed, then slowly turned around and locked gazes with Liam, the smaller boy's face expressionless as Liam jogged up to him.
Louis was stood on the first step of the building, and reached Liam's height once the other boy got close.
"Liam," Louis said flatly, and Liam gave him a guilty smile, which Louis had gotten used to in the almost two weeks they had been together.
They both stared at each other for a second before Liam started. "Listen babe I'm really sorry for ditching you yesterday, and I'll make up--"
Louis held a hand up. "Liam. This is what? The tenth time I'm hearing you say those words. Every weekend we make plans and every freaking time something comes up and you make up for it with a crappy after school date!" Louis huffed.
Liam frowned. "Well you're being unreasonable! I don't ditch you on purpose Louis--"
"I'm always the one being unreasonable huh?" Louis said bitterly. "Well I'm sorry for wanting my boyfriend to pay a little attention to me. More than he does to his stupid sports!"
"You know how much getting a spot on the team means to me, Louis! You could be a little understanding!" Liam raised his voice as well, both boys glaring at each other by now. Thankfully no one was around them at that moment, not that the two livid boys would notice.
"Oh, so what? Your sports are so important to you, more than me? And I'm not beung understanding by cancelling my weekend plans that I make with you all week? Sure," Louis said sarcastically, cutting Liam off. "If you don't have time to spare, why did you agree to date me in the first place?!" Louis spat, crossing his arms as he stared Liam down, who sighed.
"Okay, it's early. We're both cranky right now--"
"I'm not fucking cranky! Answer me!"
"Alright fine! Just calm down down Lou."
"Don't fucking tell me to calm down! I am so mad at you right now!" Louis spat, turning away from Liam.
"Babe, I get why you're mad and I realise I've been such an asshole. I promise I won't ditch you and bring you to sports meeting or even cancel them for you," Liam said softly, Louis absorbing his words, chewing on his lower lip in thought. Liam actually sounded guilty this time, and serious as well. Was Louis being too much of a bitçh?
"Babe? Talk to me," Liam said, gently turning Louis around by the shoulders, locking their gaze as Louis' breath hitched.
"Please forgive me. I hate it when you're mad at me," he spoke, smiling at Louis who was slowly melting at Liam's puppy dog expression.
Louis sighed, shrugging out of his grip. "I don't think it's s'posed to be this way Liam. I feel so unimportant around you. And w-we fight so much--"
"You do?" Liam asked, looking as if he'd been hit by a bus.
"Y-yeah--"
"But we have even more fun Lou! I really like you and I'm sorry if I make you feel that way," Liam said fervently. "God I'm such an idiot!"
Louis shook his head, wrapping his arms around himself as his mind once again raced.
"Lou? Can we start over? Please? You're right. I was wrong but--"
"Now that's what I love to hear. I'm always right Payno," Louis quipped, and Liam chuckled, sighing in relief as he pulled Louis close, leaning his forehead against the smaller boy's.
"And yeah I sometimes feel unimprotant when you ditch me but other times I feel so warm and special," Louis said honestly.
He nudged Liam. "And I guess I like you too," he said, putting his arms around Liam's neck, running the fingers of his left hand through Liam's hair.
"I'm so lucky that you gave me a chance. Then, and now too. I don't deserve you," Liam said honestly, and Louis pecked his lips.
"You don't, but yep you're lucky," he sassed. Sure, Louis was still a tad mad at Liam, but Liam was right. They had way more sweet moments than fights, and the older boy now realised that he'd been ignoring Louis and truly sounded sorry this time, and Louis wasn't that evil.
Even though Louis' whole heart wasn't in this relationship, he was just trying it out, but would never admit it to Liam or even to himself. He still couldn't figure out if his attraction to Liam was more than physical or not, and that's why he couldn't focus on wholly being with Liam but wanted to geniunely give it all his best.
And also, he just didn't want to break Liam's heart.
"We good babe?" Liam asked, threading his fingers through Louis', who smiled at him and nodded.
"Yeah, sure. But I'll kick you in the balls if you'll ever ditch me again."
"Fair enough," Liam nodded seriously, and Louis snorted a laugh, feeling much better now that they'd talked it out.
"You're so perfect Lou," Liam cooed.
"Have you quite finished Liam?" Louis narrowed his eyes playfully.
"Nope. I'll--"
"Excuse me mate," Louis heard the familiar voice say a bit rudely, Louis' heart rate inexplicably picking up at the deep Australian accent, and Liam raised an eyebrow but silently moved out of the way and closer to Louis as an expressionless Luke passed by them. Louis locked eyes with the taller boy's blue ones for a second, who offered him a soft smile before disappearing inside the building.
"Lou? Louis!"
"Huh, yeah?"
"I'll see you at lunch yeah? Or maybe drop by your rehearsal to embarrass you," Liam said cheekily.
"Ugh I hate you," Louis groaned playfully as Liam kissed his temple, giving him a warm side hug.
"You're so cute, so tiny," Liam teased, and Louis hit his chest.
"'M not tiny! First Luke and now you!" Louis said without thinking.
"Luke? That foreign exchange guy?"
"Uh yeah. He just went inside," Louis said, remembering that he had a few things to ask Luke that he'd thought over the weekend and Louis had no idea why he had thought over this so much.
"So you guys are friends?" Liam probed.
Louis shrugged. "I guess. We're in almost the same classes and stuff and my best friend is seeing his best friend so yeah."
Liam hummed. "Well I'll see you at lunch yeah?" He called.
"Yeah Liam! See you," Louis replied absent mindedly, his mind shamefully already on Luke and the things he wanted to ask the blonde.
