Four: "I still don't like you."

A MONTH LATER:
Louis // Luke.
Louis was pissed. And anyone could easily draw that conclusion from the omnipresent frown etched on his face whenever he was in Drama class. It always used to be the opposite before. He was always the happiest whenever in Drama, but not anymore because of Luke Hemmings.
He knew the not so small grudge he held against the blonde was really petty and stupid. Luke had made fun of Louis' height, and he must have learned his lesson by now. Louis more than once just decided to not be rude to the boy whenever he approaches Louis.
But then Luke had to go ahead and steal Louis' thunder. The feather haired boy never had serious intentions of making Luke's drama experience miserable.
Okay. He had a few plans up his sleeve.
But they all flew out the damn window when Luke, because of his insane acting skills, along with being a natural at improv, quickly became a favorite, not to mentioned Ms. Jameson's star pupil next to Louis.
And Louis being Louis could not tolerate. He was just seething on the inside.
"Alright," Ms. Jameson addressed the class being held in the auditorium, tapping her pumps on the stage as she waited for the to quiet down. "I've put all the roles and the names on the board," he gestured to the white board behind her, "which you lot can check after class. I loved how enthusiastic you all were!" She smiled, her gaze moving across the room.
Luke smiled excitedly, his smile widening as he met Louis' eyes, who scowled and looked down at his hands. Louis quickly turned his head sideways as his lips tipped up in an involuntary smile.
"Great rehearsal guys, congratulations to everyone who got the roles!" She said, and seconds later the bell rung, students rushing out of the auditorium seats and making their way to the stage. Louis waited around for the crowd to lessen, and also because he wasn't in hurry. He knew he always got the lead role every year.
"Hey, congrats Luke!"
"You deserved it buddy!"
Louis snapped his head up, his eyes widening as he heard everyone offering well wished the the Aussie.
Louis knew he should feel mad, insanely jealous and annoyed but he was actually... the tiniest bit happy for Luke because yeah, the boy had worked his butt off and also needed the grade. Why the hell?! Louis was confused about his sudden change in emotions. But he was still jealous.
After texting Gemma and Harry that he's going to be a bit late to class, Louis sauntered over to where Luke was surrounded by a few of their classmates, smiling and chatting with them all, his dimple prominent as he smiled with his teeth.
"Congratulations," Louis greeted in a monotone, as Luke snapped his attention towards him, then smirked.
"Why thank you Mr. President. Still didn't carry out the threat you gave me at the start of Drama class?" Luke teased, hiking his back pack up his shoulder.
"I guess I took pity on you," he said haughtily. "You need this grade, and you really do work hard," Louis said admirably.
Luke smiled, biting at his lip ring. "Aw. Thanks Louis. I'm tempted to ruffle your hair again but I think that won't settle well with you," he says thoughtfully, Louis shooting him a glare.
"So, are we actually cool now? Because this is the first time you have been not making snide remarks and have complimented me," Luke said, careful not to let the giddiness he felt slip into his tone.
Louis then realised that oh, he is supposed to still hate Luke because that's more like Louis Tomlinson.
"I still don't like you."
"Ah I see," Luke leaned against the stage, adjusting his dark blue beanie. "Why do you though? Look Louis. I'm really sorry if I offended you or something. I don't think this grudge would solve anything," he apologized honestly, making Louis blink.
"Oh um. Yeah- no, it's okay I guess," Louis frowned, silently agreeing. But he secretly liked hating Luke.
"Honestly though. I don't even remember why you have a grudge against me," Luke said, his blue eyes wide and bottom lip jutted out slightly in a display of mock innocence. And of course he remembered why. He just wanted Louis to say it out loud again.
And the boy in question's tan cheeks were tinted pink as he squinted at the taller boy in annoyance, flicking his long hair out of his eyes.
"You made fun of my height," Louis stated calmly and Luke raised an eyebrow.
"So? You are incredibly tiny," the blonde stated in a matter of fact voice. Louis opened his mouth but Luke waved as he saw his new purple haired friend Michael waiting up for him, who was now making his way over to them.
"How tall are you anyway?" Luke returned his attention back to a fuming Louis.
"I'm 5'9"," he huffed as he crossed his arms, staring Luke down who's lips wobbled as he tried to keep a straight face and not break down in laughter.
Michael, who was now in earshot, laughed sarcastically for a long time, then gazed at Louis with a bitch please look. "No."
"Who the fuck asked you?" Louis spat, blue eyes narrowed.
Michael shrugged coolly. "Hey. I was merely doing a good deed. Correcting such a blasphemous lie," he drawled, making Luke snort a laugh, mostly at Louis' sputtering face.
"Well Lucifer, see you at lunch. I can see that you're busy," he smirked, eyeing both the boys, and Louis snorted in disbelief as he realised what the pale boy was hinting at.
"Congrats on the role mate, Ash and I are waiting for you outside," he patted the blonde's shoulder and sauntered off.
"I think you're too tiny and fluffily adorable to be 5'9"," Luke poked, making Louis huff.
"I am not adorable," he mumbled as he crossed his sweater covered arms across his chest, cheeks tinting pink as his lips curved up in a shy half smile, contradicting his words.
Luke nearly melted at the sight of a smiling Louis. Why was he so damn cute?
Luke knew he had a crush on the older boy, just a little one. But he knew Louis was too damn stubborn to ever consider anything or even let go of his childish grudge which Luke found amusingly cute.
Maybe he didn't want Louis to let go of his grudge. Because it was so much fun riling him up and honestly, the highlight of Luke's day.
"You are too. Very adorable," Luke said, quickly spinning on his heel and walking away before Louis could respond, biting his lower lip to suppress a smile as the smaller boy was doing the same.
