Violet sat quietly in the sand, the fabric once holding her hair up was now wrapped tightly around her arm, watching as Jaha woke Murphy up, and he coughed. "John, come on. We gotta go."
"There's, he's up. It's about time."
"Quiet, Caspian." Jaha muttered, "You alright?" He asked Murphy. "If he's not, we're leaving him here. It's time to go home." Caspian argued.
"I'm okay." Murphy rejected.
"It's time to go home." Caspian sighed impatiently.
"Shut up, Caspian." Violet rolled her eyes, tired of his bullshit already.
"And where exactly is that?" Jaha looked at Caspian, wondering where 'home' could be.
"Sir, I know you're trying to take us to a better place but look around. We've got no food, we've got no water, and no idea how to find it."
"Due north. She said due north!"
"What, is due north John?"
"She was talking about The City of Light!"
"Did she say that?" Caspian scoffed.
"No."
"Did she say how far due north?" Jaha looked at the sky, pondering. There was nothing but sand around them.
"No, she didn't, but she wouldn't be sending us there if we couldn't make it."
"Who's that? The liar and the thief who knocked you out! Sir, I really hope you aren't considering this."
"John, we have no weapons and no rations. If we go North and you're wrong... then all of us will die. There will be no survivors. If we turn back now, we live."
"So that's it? We've reached the point of no return? You wanna give up?"
"I didn't say that."
"You didn't not say it either! I don't see the seven year old giving up!"
The group's eyes moved towards Violet as she stood up, walking towards Murphy and Jaha.
"That," Jaha pointed to a bright star in the sky, twinkling in the clear sky, "is the North Star. After you."Murphy smirked, nodding as he grabbed Violets hand and began walking ahead of the group.
"The rest of you, need to decide for yourselves."
"Is your arm okay?" Murphy asked quietly, noticing the blood seeping into the fabric. "I don't know, it could be worse so I'm okay. Your head okay?"
"I've been hit harder."
"I believe this is what they call having faith, John!"
Jaha and some of the others began catching up to them. "Faith? Nah, just got nothing better to do."
