"Do you guys see that?" Violet whispered.
"What?"
"That!" Violet pointed to the horizon, "Land!"
A spotlight a few miles out was circulating, revealing an island. "How does an island of light sound to you, John!" "YES!" Murphy yelled, pushing one of the oars through the water.

Something slammed into the side of the boat, ripping on of the oars out of Murphys hand and leaving it floating as the boat rocked side to side.

"What was that?"
"Get that oar, get that oar!" Jaha pointed.

Violet screamed as something tipped the boat, dragging her and Richard's into the cold icy water.
"Violet! Richard's!"

Violets head went under the water as she swallowed an ungodly amount of water, as Richard's wrapped his arms around her chest and held her up.

"Grab her, grab her!" Richard's yelled as the two of them were dragged under water again. "There's something in the water!"

Violet pushed her head above water, gasping for air as she screamed, "Murphy!"

"Violet, grab our hands! Grab onto us!" Jaha yelled in a panic, as Richard's lifted her out of the water.

Violet grabbed both of their hands, fighting to keep her grip on them both.

Jaha's hand slipped from hers as Murphy grabbed her, pulling on her as whatever was in the water latched onto Richards, ripping him to shreds as it caught Violets leg and she screamed blood murder, begging Murphy to help her as he yelled, the same 'thing' tearing into his arm just as they got her out of the water.

They lugged her into the boat, as they took barely a second to mourn the amount of blood in the water, knowing Richards was gone.

Violet screamed in agony, her leg covered in blood and searing in pain as Murphy realized the extent of his damages, holding his arm as he yelled in pain.

"What the hell was that thing!" Craig yelled.
"We need to row, now!" Jaha instructed, tying a scrap of fabric around Murphys arm.

The boat rocked side to side again, something crashing into the side of it. "It's back, hold on!"

"Where is it!"

"Craig, row! Row, Craig! Now!" Jaha yelled in a panic as the side of the boat cracked open from the force of the beast, water leaking into it. "We're gonna sink!"
"We're all gonna die. We're all gonna die!"

"Craig!" Violet yelled at him, shaking his arm.
"I can do it, I can row!" Murphy groaned, sitting up as he grabbed the oars from Craig. "Go, go!" Jaha yelled, pushing Violet away from the side of the boat, "What are you doing? Craig! What the hell is wrong with you!" Murphy yelled, watching as Jaha grabbed Craig by the back of his jacket, sending him overboard.

"Get off me, get off me!" Violet shrieked as Jaha held onto the back of her shirt, and Murphy tussled with him to let go of Violet.

Craig screamed in agony as the beast, easily a fifty foot leech with terrible teeth came up, grabbing him as it groaned in its own language and disappeared back into the water just as fast.

Violet was left in shock, as Jaha let go of her shirt.
"What the hell is... what the hell is wrong with you?" Murphy yelled, shoving Jaha to the other side from him and Violet.

"Hold on. It's gone. Let's go!" Jaha whispered, as began rowing the boat.

"Why?" Murphy mumbled.

"So we could live. And because you can row." Jaha spoke coldly, with no remorse.

Jaha jumped out of the boat, pulling it to shore, Violet sitting in the boat, scared as Murphy stopped rowing and clutched his arm.

"John, let me help you."
"I don't want anything from you." "Come on you're a survivor! We all are."
"Whatever you have to tell yourself to feel better, chancellor."
"Our destiny is out there, John."
"And what about Craig's destiny?"
"We sacrificed a few to save the many."

He gave Jaha a sick look, turning his head away as Jaha walked a few feet, observing the island.

"You know you're right. I am a survivor." Murphy stood up, stepping in the water as he lifted Violet out of the boat, giving her a piggy back ride as he kept his injured arm up, "Which is exactly why I'm done following you. You can go whichever the hell way you want. Me and Violet are done here." He took a couple steps before putting Violet down, collapsing.

"John, John!" Jaha scrambled towards them,
"Get the hell away from me." Murphy yelled at him, shoving him away. "You've lost too much blood! Stay still!"

Murphy stopped fighting with him as a mechanical whirring grew louder.

"Do you hear that?" Jaha whispered.

The same drone from before flew towards them as Jaha stood, waving his arms at it. "Please, whoever you are, we need your help! Wait! Wait!" He yelled, watching as it disappeared into the woods, with no way to see exactly what way as the night sky had almost no light.

"I can't make it." Murphy sighed, standing up as Jaha wrapped his arm around his shoulder. "Just go! We both know you want to."

"I'll come back for you John, you too Violet."

"Your promised land sucks!" Murphy yelled, not at Jaha, but in general.

Violet took a few shaky steps, as she misstepped and shrieked as she fell, holding her leg as she writhed in pain. Murphy turned towards her, observing the horrific amount of blood covering her leg as he took his jacket off, "I'm gonna tie it around your leg, it'll stop the bleeding." Violet gasped, shoving his hand away from her, "No, no! It's going to hurt I don't want to!"

"Violet, you'll only hurt more and get worse if I don't!"
"No! Not happening!"
"Violet, you can swear at me and you can punch me in the face again but I have to do this, okay? This is the only time I won't listen to you saying no."

Violet took a shaky breath, turning her head away from her leg as she pulled her arm around Murphys shoulders, hugging him and squeezing her eyes shut.
Murphy pulled his jacket under her calf, pulling it around her wound as he tightened it, Violet burst into tears, sobbing and screaming at Murphy.

"That's it, okay? I'm done that's all!"

Violet screamed as Murphy wrapped his arms around her, hugging her. "I'm sorry, I'm really sorry."
