Chapter music: Eyes Closed

Pov Lalisa Manoban

Getting ready with Jennie took longer than I expected, unfortunately the bar she and I were going to had already closed by then so we looked for another one at the last minute.

As I drove to the place Jennie complained beside me the whole way.

That's because I'd decided to go to a karaoke bar, I loved karaoke and I loved bars, nothing like combining the two. But Jennie hated karaoke and loved bars.

- Are you looking for some unknown talent by any chance? - she asked as we got out of the car, I left the key with the valet and we walked to the entrance.

- I'm not looking for anything Jennie, could you stop complaining in my ear for a minute, I want to enjoy the evening.

- Fine, but we could be somewhere quieter and more private. Okay, I'll stop talking, but are you really going to walk into this place as if you were just anyone?

- I've thought of everything Jennie my dear, can you relax a little? - I said, standing in front of her and holding out my hands to rest on her shoulder. The little girl relaxed her expression and smiled at me. - Much better, don't worry about a thing.

We walked back again and stopped at the door of the place, where there was a very friendly attendant.

- Good evening ladies, welcome to the Karaoke Bar, could I have your names for the entrance? - Jennie gave me a quizzical look and I just smiled.

- Good evening, I'm a very private person.  - I said, moving closer to her, almost whispering. - I'd really like to go in and have fun with my girlfriend in a quieter place, you know what I mean? - I took a few dollars from my purse and handed them to the woman, who smiled without asking any more questions.

We followed her into the place and instead of taking the middle route where there was a large staircase to the second floor, she led us into the corner of the large bar that was taking up the enormous space.

She led us to a perfect table on the second floor, the place was practically empty and overlooked the stage in front of us, there was a bar up there too.

Jennie and I sat down and the girl brought us a menu with some drinks, the woman thanked us for the tip and left, leaving a waiter to serve us.

After we'd lost what we wanted, Jennie stopped and looked deep into my eyes.

- Girlfriend? - I burst out laughing.

- It was the first thing that popped into my head and I apologize.

- You're completely crazy. - I interrupted Jennie again by putting my finger between her lips.

- You promised you'd stop complaining. - the waiter brought the two drinks we ordered.

- I'm going to drink and forget that you're crazy in the head.

A boy came on stage and started singing his own version of Love Yourself, I couldn't help but grimace when I heard those notes, it sounded like a nightmare.

- Stop judging the poor guy like that, he was just having fun. - Jennie laughed at my expression, something I couldn't hide even if I tried.

- Sorry Nini, it's automatic, my ears are already trained for criticism.
